[1.2.1.4] - Screaming Veilkeeper Ritualist (no MI) SR36, Ravager, Callagadra

Hey!

What I have got for you today is something what was made possible with 1.2.1.3. changes. Mainly the new prefix on the Conduit of Wild Whispers

but Veilkeeper set changes helped as well. There is also one change what, based on the patch notes, should be there but I cannot see it in game nor in GT. What do I miss or misunderstand here?
Scion of the Screaming Veil

Anyway…

I have hinted you almost everything about what you will see in the GT link, but there is something what you cannot see there.

THIS SH!T LOOKS DOPE!!! (imo)

Tbh, the aesthetics part of this toon is the real reason why this post is here, because this one is very similar concept wise to my Nightbringer Ritualist and I am not really interested in doing the same thing twice. Well, that was a case study on celestial speed killing, this one came out to be a much more rounded build.

GRIMTOOLS V2 - Health Regen variant small details in comments
GRIMTOOLS V1

Concept:

AA(savagery)+WPS(feral hunger, reaping strike, necrotic edge) powerhouse with Upheaval as the “4th WPS” skill.

Gameplay:
What I have really liked in my previous ritualist is present here but on steroids. We have a lot of CC (confuse, knockdown, slow, -%atk speed) debuffs and the gameplay is a very interesting (seem to be) chaotic slaughter on the screen. I think it is very entertaining especially in deep SR.

Vids:

V1 build:
SR30 - Look at them! Like chaff before the wind.
SR36 - Died here once to Zantarin as I was lazy to clear his trash, but I left this vid because of shard 2. (no my pc is not a potato)
Ravager of Flesh - 1:25
I was so fixated on getting enough OA to be able to crit him that I have redesigned this toon approx. 30 times… to kill him 2 seconds faster… This was quite a good lesson. This is a 1:25 kill without critting him with my original version. (Upheaval cries)

V2 Build
SR30
SR36 - almost trivial
Ravager of Flesh - 1:35
Callagadra - 2:07

All in all I think this build looks and plays awesome. Give it a try.

As always, constructive criticism is welcome.

Happy Gaming,
Dantioch

have you tried with/without siphon souls?

Yes, it works. Without it deep SR becomes more sketchy with high mob density around BUT the real reason is that aether siphon souls looks awesome on this one!!!

I think you could easily improve it by actually focusing on wps and taking Oleron’s Blood. Your Upheaval probably never procs given that your wps pool is at 78% and your OA is pretty low.
Your devotions are spread too thin and pet devo Rattosh is costing you too much. Also Gnomish is right, Siphon is just adding to the clunk here, especially with your casting speed. Those gloves are also not doing much - you are not reaching Savagery breakpoint with them and you have plenty of adtch already.

I would try it like this Ritualist, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.3) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

you end up with 200 more OA, but then has upheaval removed is actually funny

well you know how it works with upheaval, it’s all or nothing.

Thanks Guys! Will try it out.

I didn’t know that conduit existed. Looks disgusting. Gotta make a Druid asap.

used to be just for aether sav, but last PTR we got it “fixed”/buffed to include aether upheaval due to the unique interaction of upheaval conversion requirement

Gurus! Does anyone know anything about the Scion vit->aether change in the patch notes? Is this something what we should report or I am chasing ghosts here?

patch notes says X and it didn’t happen it’s usually worth a bug report to at minimum confirm if it’s a "rollback decision"intended or just oversight not being implemented yet

Mistery solved.

happens, with 3000+ changes somtimes it’s easy for an extra one to slip in or one being left out

UPDATE:

First of all I would like to thank Gnomish_Inquisition, mad_lee and last but not least Zantai (who responded to my report in 8!!! minutes) because their inputs made me rethink this build and I think it became a much more complete package while keeping the original concept. It’s blade dulled a little bit, but picked up other perks on the road. So, what changed?

  • I dropped Upheaval (it was painful) to include oleron’s blood as the 4th WPS.
  • The previous point finally released me from my obsessive OA hoarding. It is not really feasible here.
  • Revamped my devotion setup, less focus on OA more focus on health regen as Veilkeeper supports it.
  • Dropped Siphon souls. We don’t need it anymore.
  • As I realized that Scion will not have 100% Vit to Aether conversion I decided that I take care of this in other ways. → double Tawrot looks awesome! I have done 4dummy tests and 2xTawrot came out 5 sec faster compared to Tawrot+Haunt.

What did these changes gave us?

I haven’t built around health regen before, it was interesting to try it out. Man… this mechanic is borderline broken… Now the build can kill Calla and SR36 can be done deathless very reliably. Pushed it to 40, but at that level I cannot do 3 consecutive deathless runs.

I have added a second section to the main post with new GT link and vids.

Constructive criticism is still welcome.

Happy Gaming!

Hi, cool build! Just wanna share, you can use a Mythical Dreadscorcher with the same component & augment as a quick-switch ranged option. Having the option to shoot is very useful in Hardcore

(if you’re good with just melee, don’t mind me! I’m just over-enthusiastic with weapon switching lol)
