[1.2.1.6] SSF budget Fire Forcewave Commando with Sunherald's Claymore - SR32

One of my all time favorite builds in this game is the Fire Forcewave Commando using Worldeater as weapon. I made one from scratch, but I used the Sunherald’s claymore and some “cleaver” usage of MI’s. This put me in a position to farm SR 26-27 fast and safe as well as farming Bastion of chaos in order to one day obtain the weapon.

:fire:The result is here::fire:

a sturdy tank that dishes out damage both from range and in the face of mobs.

For a good finalized set-up, I refer to this by build @mad_lee Commando, Level 100 (GD 1.2.0.3) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator from the first post in the “Top 20” build collection ⭐ Top 20 Softcore builds, ft. HC approved section from RektbyProtoss! [1.2.0.5] (An Onion) (under honorable mentions) and here is another version, using the same weapon as I did [1.1.9.0] Menhir's Fire Forcewave - Commando - Crucible 4:57 (a bit old, might need some tweaks, but still)

Given that is not the most easy to get item since it pretty low drop rate in Grim Dawn standards (2,45% dropchance according to grim tools) and only drop from one singular boss/place which takes about 5-7 minutes to run…
I thought about making a fire forcewave commando from scratch, no use of my old items blueprints and such. The only thing I used was all transmogs in order to look glorious

The build-maker is the Sunherald sword which converts 50% of forcewave (FW) physical damage to fire via Menhirs bulwark skill, we just need to convert a little bit more which is not hard due to component and the affix-bias this weapon has towards fire damage.

Honorable mention items are the helmet Chose Gaze (damage and crit to FW), amulet shamblers heart (damage to FW and damage+OA to flame thouch) and medal Balthazar crest (damage to flame touch + fire affix bias), gollus rings for health regen :drop_of_blood:

In order to obtain the blueprints for the gloves and boots we ran totems in ultimate. Many options in terms of epic and legendaries here, but I went with these ones. Running totems might be a waste of time, considering that SR chests are a decent source of blueprints as well…

Ticking in at about 26 h gametime now, no death so far, we have completed SR 32 four times now.

I decided to test the char in SR first in order to see what content we could push without resorting to epics and legendaries we might find along the way. In fact, we have not used a single piece of items that was dropped in the SR chests :open_mouth: :crate:

I think the plan now is to craft Annihilation relic, use a nice pair of Valderan shoulders for +FW and phys res, transmute to get Justice gloves for FW conversion to fire, and finally farm that Worldeater just with and for this char alone

Wish me luck on that…

If there is interest, I could write more about the journey in some kind of beginner/budget guide. Not that I think I would be very good at doing so, but it is always nice to give back to the community. I just thought this was a fun project in waiting for FoA

That’s a good clean build. I like the all green gear set. Why did you skip Internal Trauma? I guess it’s not good on spam FW?

I guess it is worth one point. Not sure where to steal points from. On all my fire FW builds I always put one point into it.

Edit - added video.
Hope this can get added to grim tools builds soon :stuck_out_tongue:

Nice job, bro! Looks really tanky and fun.

Martin’s crest could be a good option on medal too?

Yeah defenitely, I farmed Martin lot but I went with this medal instead.
