True, but not yet at a point where it matters. Everything except bosses are still oneshot. And for bosses the radius don’t matter cause I’m in melee. Still, gonna be starting ultimate the next moment I touch the game so I’ll just make adjustments whenever needed.
Like the build but man does it die alot, nearly over 100 deaths and not even to Homestead yet.
By any chance are you playing on Veteran instead of Normal? I’ve only died 3 times so far including on Ultimate which I haven’t uploaded yet so 100 times before homestead is too baffling. And even more baffling is how you haven’t quit the game if you’ve died 100 times that early.
You can watch the vids since my playthrough is fully documented. I’ve never struggled anywhere to date, but I know Veteran is several magnitudes harder than Normal and I’m never accounting for that because the goal is Ascendant.
This should be a very strong levelling char. What are your defensive stats and sustain? If you post your Grim Tools we can help.
Gear is not working from the inventory , you have to equip it
Just normal, and I am already past Homestead now but still racking up deaths.
I just farm the gear he said to farm , so
The playthrough GT does seem to have 0 lifesteal until level 50ish. If I were doing this I would put Unholy Inscription on gloves as soon as I could and use Solael-Sect pants from level 30, which would give some decent sustain.
The OP does say that this is more a record of a journey than a formal guide, so you may want to adapt his suggestions. The core concept is very strong and solid.
Then I’m sorry to say this but my only advice to you would be to git gud. You could incorporate Toxophilix’s suggestions and get lifesteal earlier and it will help. I did not get the feeling of needing lifesteal until level 50, yes. But I get the feeling you’re doing something very wrong when it comes to the game fundamentals. I can’t tell you what it is cause I can’t see your gameplay but I can’t point to anything else but skill issue.
As a beginners guide how does game fundamentals become paramount to the guide? Do you have to be an expert to use it? I mean I get it , its a Zero to H but still.
That’s what I don’t understand. This isn’t supposed to be a build that requires so much skill to pull off. I mean what’s so hard about getting in, pressing left click for onslaught and one button for Ring of Steel?
Do you back off when you think you’re in danger? That alone saves you a lot of deaths. Do you get to familiarize boss attacks while you’re playing? That will make you die just 2 times instead of 3. None of these things are build specific. That’s just the very basics of the game that build guides don’t really tell you.
Look, I’m not saying you should get zero deaths in the entire normal campaign like I did, but if you get 100 before homestead that’s a player issue, not a build issue.
GD levelling doesn’t have a high skill cap. It’s much more likely that the problem is in your setup. If you upload it to Grim Tools and share the link here, we can help.
Usual things that cause extreme squishiness in levelling:
low or no healing
low resists
low armour
low HP
some accidental self-gimp (eg, a mistaken conversion that is killing DPS)
Also, are there any particular monsters or bosses that are killing you?
just anything with a Skull above its head is 100% a death and some of the mobs with stars will kill me or I end up kiting but often still die.
Just link your grimtools so we can see what’s wrong. And then follow Toxophilix’s advice. At the very least you shouldn’t just easily die to every thing stronger than a trash mob. I assume you’re in the level 30s now. Then at level 35 gearing will be much more concrete since faction gear is now available.
I am past 30’s I am 51 in Malmouth now.
Hmm. Then it’s gonna be easier to give gearing advice since it’ll matter more now.
You should already be able to buy black legion gear. Refer to part 4 grimtools. Replace your belt with literally anything that can fix your resistances. The current belt gives nothing for the build. If you’re hurting for iron bits then just pick up everything that drops and sell them. Level 50 gear should be good until around level 65.
Next thing you should do is postpone the campaign and farm for the Servitor Slicers ASAP. Doesn’t matter what the affixes are and what the dps tooltip would say. Two slicers will be better than anything here.
After that look up shrine locations in grimtools and see what you missed in the base game. You will start needing that ghoul lifesteal in the 50s.
Once you get that, as long as you’re not oneshot you should die way less.
I farmed that dumb mob in the Fringes , never dropped with the stats, I have like 18 or 19 of em just banked but ill sell em, That mob is hit or miss if I survive or not sometimes he 2 taps me , sometimes he dies if the Ring crits. I might skip him and continue on because he is that annoying.
No. The two slicers are what makes this build, alongside the medal and amulet. That’s your “set”. If you’re playing with anything else then it’s a different build at that point. Get your chaos resist up and dodge the sunder. If you look at my part 3 I’m almost facetanking him.
