You need to get some life steal (Attack Damage Converted to Health, as the game calls it).
Changes I would make:
change your glove component to Unholy Inscription
get the next node in the Ghoul devotion that you have already started
get Solael-Sect pants (they drop from the second boss in the Hidden Path quest - I would do this last as the leach from the first two changes will help with the Hidden Path bosses, which can be quite dangerous)**
That will give you 15% leach in total. You survivability will rocket when you are stealing back that amount of all the damage you deal.
The Solael-Sect pants also have aether res as baseline, which will help in Malmouth.
Which leads on to a second point: you need to get your low resists up. Ideally, they would all be in the 60-80 range by now. I would aim to have at least some resists on every armour and jewellery piece.*
As @x1x1x1x2 says, the Servitor’s Slicers are key to making the build really work. You don’t need to be exact about the affixes while levelling. With RoS on a 1 second cooldown you can put out extreme DPS, both single-target and aoe.
* Edit: Corpse Dust or Soul Shards on your rings will help with that 0% vit res. You would have less energy, of course, without the ectoplasm, so might need to hit the energy pot button more.
** Edit 2: As you are now level 51, you will probably get level 60 Solael-Sect pants dropping, so it might be best to leave farming it until closer to that point.
You don’t really need solael sect pants too. I haven’t even done the hidden path yet. I find legion gear is pretty good aether res-wise. Maybe once you jump to ultimate but if you max out legion and/or malmouth rep in normal the augments are there to save you.
I use them from level 30 when levelling weapon-damage builds. I don’t think there’s anything better until you get whatever you want to use in endgame. Of course, there’s no point actually finishing the Hidden Path on normal, but it only takes 5 minutes to get to the Solael guardian.
Updated wtih Parts 8 and 9! Actually Part 8 was yesterday but whatever. Got to level 100 after part 9 and also got my endgame helm after a few excruciating farming sessions, but we go back to actually playing the game after this part!
Hello there, first thing first: i’m loving this guide, many thanks!
I’m back to GD after quite some time as i wanted to play FoA, i’ve played the game quite a lot but never became an expert to it…i don’t have the patience to delve too much into mechanics and calculations so for most of my games i’ve searched for a build that was looking appealing and went with that.
Tried couple builds myself though, with decent results: all modes, all expansions and decent hit on SR.
I wanted to play in FoA my favorite mastery NB and try the new one so the Reaver was the obvious choice, and found youe guide…had a look and wanted to try it, being a RoS build was a big plus too as i love that skill!
Brief introducion is over, now i have couple questions about the build/guide and more may probably come
in part 1 you mentioned the Honed Longsword which is pretty decent and thematic i’d say and next are the Dermapteran Slicer…i remembered about Pit Master's Axe - Rare One-Handed Axe - Grim Dawn Item Database and went to farm a couple. Arent’s those better until the Servitor’s Slicer can be obtained? i’m using them btw and i’ll compare to Dermapteran Slicer as soon as i hit the hive
devotion wise: i see there’s rattosh staff, which i think i never had in any of the builds i’ve played, it was the only option? this is just out of curiosity, as i said never had it before on a char
Thanks for posting it, and hopefully you’ll have couple minutes to answer!
PS: saw up in the comment that someone reported the build as a bit fragile (many deaths) i can add that i die once in the attempt to down Gutworm but my level was too low to pick up that fight! right now i’m in the twin falls/hillsbrad areas and i had no problem since that dumb death
Axe is physical + bleed and not pierce. At level 20ish it doesn’t matter much cause the skill mod should be good enough to carry but as you go on further slicers will outpace because of the pierce (and you’ll get rr eventually). There’s quite a big amount of time before you get servitors so I’d still go derp slicers
Originally it was just in the devo setup of the save @banana_peel gave me when I did gdstash this but even after a lot of tweaks I could never let go of it because aether res and some health is always good and is normally lacking in pierce builds.
Glad to see someone confirm. Thanks!
I had a comparison on the endgame thread for this but wolf is gonna be worse cause fotb nerf. Also max speed is what’s given, not actual speed, which this build barely caps if you gdstash and if you don’t you’ll sit at 190ish.
In current patch fotb is bugged to have unlimited untsmed rage but that’s gonna get fixed in a couple weeks tops.
You are right on the Derma Slicer, my bad…i overlooked the damage type! still i think Boris’ axes are a good choice until Derma Slicer can be obtanined as they provide a nice 1s CD reduction to and a damage buff to RoS and they are very easy to get…maybe you can mention them in the guide, but it’s your call of course
I’m not really satisfied with the above link. While it was very consistent in naked crucible before I added Amplicorum, with Amplicorum it turned into paper but it’s also what allowed me to get sub-5 runs. Link above needs some scrap farming to craft a Shrewd Interpid Warboots of Survival, which frees up a ring component slot, significantly increasing our DA without any damage compromise.
Or just don’t use Amplicorum. It’s dying next patch anyway.
Guide will be updated and will probably be finished in the next week.
Added a “Tips, Tricks, and Learnings” Section which can be a bit lengthy and still requires some formatting. I still have to add Parts 16-17 of the playthrough but I need to make peace with the fact that I’m gonna render 6+hrs worth of footage again (to merge vids) which will mean less game time.
