A how-to on getting loot efficiently on solo play + advice on levelling

While this guide is not for me, I’d just hop in to express my appreciation for everyone’s work here.

Guide has been updated

i will try that once i figure out how to keep myself healthy  trial of corruption and Gargabol really gave me trouble, so i had to rely on the summons to finish them off.
might just switch to your aegis build for a bit more ranged approach.
is there a devotion or augment, that helps health restoration? right now i have to rely on potions with resilience and wayward soul and i guess my defenses are a bit on the weak side

(resistances are not sown correctly though <.<)

There’s also the Cauldron of Excitement, 100% drop from a corpse in the secret area of Malmouth’s Sewers in all difficulties :

That is because you are level 60 and is in Veteran or Elite? One can chance difficulty in GT but default is always Ultimate.

Also GT uses average rolls of items so resistances can fluctuate a lot due to that as well.

Where can I farm Eldritch Essences? I take them to be the FG variant of an Ancient Heart/Blood of Ch’thon/Tainted Brain Matter so would I need to be targeting Eldritch-ish bosses or something?

Try the farming route I made for FG that is included in the OP “Getting items”

If you want you can add the following Monster for the FG route:

  1. Krovan City Rift -> north to Pit of Atonement -> kill Okaloth - “The Messenger”
  2. Back to the Remnants of Korvan City -> north -> kill Azaleon, Gryphon Sovereign
  3. south/east to Path of Ascension -> kill Dravis, Son of Uroboruuk
  4. north/east to the Entrace to Tomb of the Eldritch Sun -> kill The Steward

Will do. Could you do me a favor and perhaps flesh out what kind of loot a player can typically expect from doing this?

I haven’t farmed FG all that much because I cheat and use GDstash, so I’m not sure how this will compare against the other suggested farming routes.

And meaning no offence, the last thing I want is to include something ‘subpar’ in the guide as it might negatively impact others.

@ spanky add this item to the list of “guranteed loot”

I can do 10 runs and report the result

those bosses are harder than the ones I suggested in my route

also there are 3 spawns of Treasure troves in this new FG route, and the messenger can drop MI helm that is nice for retal-RFbuilds

Yes of course:

Okaloth has a chance to drop Okaloth’s Visage (MI), Celestial Lotus or Eldritch Essence,
Azaloen and The Steward have a chance to drop Eldritch Essence too and
Dravis just gets in the way :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you

Cool. I’ll add it in later today when I’m done with work.

Damn it, Dravis…

EDIT: Welcome to the forum, and thanks for contributing!

8 runs of @Shivanking suggested route:

Route also contain 3 treasure trove spawn points.
The messenger can drop MI helm

12 legandaries
29 epic
8 purple crafting mats

The route takes a bit longer time than my suggested route and is more challenging

of course, should have thought of that <.<
it has been a long time since i’ve felt so… uninformed about a game. it feels like i am asking dumb shit every day since i started playing gd again, and malawiglenn has to explain every little bit for me, even though i read the beginner guides again ~.~

Grim Dawn is huge and it has a steep learning curve. You do not have to learning and know everything right away

Second this. Have fun clicking on monsters and taking their stuff. When you get to the point where you want to figure out how resistance reduction really works or what damage conversion is all about, you can spend the time then.

Exactly, as long as someone is having fun and making progress there is no need of getting into details. One can also focus on learning/improving one thing at the time

Latest suggestions have been added in. Huzzah for shivanking and malawiglenn!
