A warehouse without food should have no mice

Do mice also eat weapons for a living?

Not steel perhaps but flax and clothing and leather things (boots, jackets) to build the nests. Tallow could be interesting as well. Or the leather parts of weapon and armour. Just saying :slight_smile:

Maybe the mouse called the helmet home

I have had them infest a warehouse with nothing but coal and gold nuggets.

Infesting =/= eating, though.
It can also mean finding a place to nest and breed, and leave little rat pellets all over the place.
(No, Tommy! Don’t eat those! They are not chocolate cupcake jimmies!)

Their pee stinks to high heaven, and they carry diseases, which they happily spread just by being there and having contact with humans.

Even if they are not eating items you have stored, they will burrow into soil and wood to create their nest and get nesting materials, before they go out to raid your root cellars and granaries to feed their babies. It’s a whole lot more comfy living in that nice weather-resistant building those 2-legged giants made, rather than having to dig a hole under a tree, out in the miserable rain and snow. :wink:

Slightly off topic, but my family makes “chocolate mice” out of dipped cherries, hershey’s kisses, and for extra “ambiance” a sprinkling of chocolate sprinkles on the tray. For you-know-what.

But having had mice infesting my shed, and then getting into my basement, yes. They prefer human dwellings.
