Aaaaaaaand now I'm bored

After initially surviving the first few years there’s nothing to do but spend the rest of the time min/maxing the town. Eventually I’m just waiting around for merchants to bring in necessary resources which I’ve run out of in order to simply continue min/maxing.

The difficulty settings are maxed out Except raiders. It would be enjoyable to see the miniature battles but as of right now it’s simply an inconvenience. I set the game speed to max and walk away from the pc to do something else. I wait for the raiders to finish up their business and then clean up the mess they left behind.

I know optimization is incoming but as soon as raiders appear the game just starts chugging along painfully slowly.

On the topic of leaving the game running in the background, it’s annoying that the immigrants prompt pauses the game permanently. I can’t even let the game run as a background simulation bc of this.:triumph:

the purpose of the game is to min/max and optimized everything , it’s a medieval city builder simulation what do you expect

City builders - even those with combat situations - are not meant to be min/maxed. Take your time. Enjoy the game for what it is. Explore other options. I highly doubt you’ve done EVERYTHING that can possibly be done. I’ve invested the better part few weeks since the game was made available to the public doing different things, discovering new features, exploring different options.

I have played this game to its maximum population several times now and have restarted again and again and I’ve yet to see the same thing happen twice. The randomness of the maps, the terrain and its restrictions, the resource distribution. The possibilities are quite numerous.

If you’re bored already then perhaps you haven’t been playing the game the way it was meant to be played.

As was said above, this is not a min/max game and should not be played as such. That you can beat it on the hardest difficulty does not make it boring and if it bores you then this isn’t the game for you.

I appreciate your well thought out response.

My disappointment lies in the fact that there is nothing to do once I’ve completed my city’s master design. The pop is maxed out, nothing else is needed on my end, and the raiders have become nothing more than a nuisance. I feel all I can do is restart a settlement and do it all over again. There’s an end point designed into the game that is too easily reached. I guess I was just hoping for more replayability or end game content😞

You start a new one and set yourself new challenges. Have you ever played The Sims 1-4? There is no challenge in that game except ones you set yourself or share with the community. But it’s one of the best selling games ever. For example see if you can make a thriving town without doing any mining, or vegetarian only etc

Don’t forget there is Tier 4 and 5 coming also. We probably have half a game at the moment, and it’s a great start.

We already have tier 4. A 5th tier of housing will be coming further down the line.

Good idea the vegetarian town, will try. Not vegan because it might be difficult to prevent foragers to let the eggs down.
Might be difficult with soap … and shoes … and leather coats … mmmh

Hmm, what about unchecking ( = disallow ) all kind of meat (and fish) in all storage inventories?
Haven’t tried that, yet, maybe that would do the trick?

It can be done. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

No, the meat is still there where it was butchered and people will come to take it there directly.

So unchecking everywhere doesn’t make it vanish, just forces people to come to the barn if they want some meat.
(and an annoying very unspecific message telling you that you don’t have enough storage)

We have Tier 4 housing, but my wonder on Tiers 4 and 5 is if there will eventually be more industry and buildings, decorations, etc to match the higher housing tiers.

Well, I expect we’ll definitely need more decorations to push up to whatever the required desirability will be. What else might be needed in the way of buildings/goods we’ll just have to wait and see.

How about some CRAZY tier 6 defence? Hot oil? Ballista ready m’lord! Fire brazzier towers?

Oh wait that’s stronghold. Nevermind

If you’ve already created your ideal city, the rest will be boring.
Some Japanese take a century to build a Japanese-style castle on a high mountain.
Flat tools aren’t for it, but they create a waterless moat around the mountain for defense.
In search of functionality, there is a national character that is not good at European decorations.
In this game, there is no difference in suitability judgment depending on the height difference, so we use it to cram it into a narrow space.
In terms of SDGs, one idea is to surround the factory area with trees and arrange a park to improve the environment for those who work there.

If you don’t be afraid to challenge yourself in search of new possibilities, you may forget about boredom.
