I find the yearly report on production to be a very helpful tool for seeing what resources I am over- or under-producing. For example, if I can see that my firewood production is running a deficit, it’s time to assign another woodcutter.
I’ve noticed that the ‘Consumed’ column for resources adds together several different sources of consumption for a resource into one number. For example, the Consumed amount of raw meat seems to add together raw meat which was eaten by villagers and raw meat which was smoked by the smoker. For building materials like wood, the amount consumed by the saw pit for planks and the amount used for construction are also added together into one number. This creates a problem where it is difficult to know what my actual yearly consumption is from consistent sources like the saw pit, and what costs were only incurred on a one-time basis, like for a new building.
For raw meat, the problem becomes that the Consumed amount of protein in the report adds up both the raw meat and smoked meat numbers, so that raw meat which was smoked and then consumed is double counted.
The solution is for there to be new columns in the yearly report, so that you can see whether meat was eaten or smoked, whether wood was consumed by production or used in building. This would make the report a lot more useful. Thanks for reading. 1.0 has been awesome, I love this game.
