Alpha - How many greens and blues are you averaging?

The days of Magic Find gear are over, even Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3 have patched them out. I’m also happy to see it go

Well i dont think a game like Guild war 2 should have mf anyway.
I love mf, building the best mfer in D2 and farming was most of my play time.
To much hate in me for D3 to even say anything about it…

But still i think mf is a great thing and it make the game more fun and replayable.

The mf in D2 didn’t affect the drop rate of rune or impact the number of sock in a item but in the end rune and normal sockable item where the most powerful thing you can get because of runeword.

So there is a way to make this work with mf.

So far i love the game and i just changed to hardcore only

Bye bye MF,I won’t miss you.

Now I can concentrate on butt kicking for Goodness (go for the eyes Boo,go for the eyes !) just like TQ:IT.

On a more serious note.Magic find is better suited to an system of which doesn’t presently exist in Grim Dawn.Like it or hate it that’s the way it is.

I also wouldn’t be fussed to see the end of plus percent XP gain gear.Would cut down on the QQ in hardcore because … I dies for not changing me gears whahhhg…

:rolleyes::smiley:

My chalenge was to have over 800mf and still kick ass in hell in D2 and without cheating and only trades it was very hard espacialy at hardcore!

I was hoping to do similar here  i still enjoy the game alot, well except when i die lol :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Got 2 characters from build 9 I guess, 18 and 14 lvl - 4 uniques in total.
As for now, I have 3 chars - 25 lvl blademaster (based on soldier tree), 21 lvl blademaster (based on nightblade tree) and 19 lvl pyromancer (based on demolitionist). Played (current build) for 24 hours and the king of random gave me 40 epics (full maiven set, lots of heretic’s tomes lol) and around 50-70 greens (hard to count some were just bought from vendors), and 20 from this number were pretty sweet.

Most of them acquired by killing champs and Warden. My farming route is Cultist’s lair (0-2 champs or heroic stash), last portal to Warden (1-4 champs along the way and the boss) extra fast.

Also tried to farm GutWorm, but no luck there T-T

As for drop&loot system in general, I think it will be a good idea to increase iron bites droprate by 1.2-1.3. Maybe slightly increase chance of dropping green items by 5-7%.

Lol, if I had your drop rate, I would not be asking for an increase

Are you killing everyone, or just walk by the mobs to kill the heroes and bosses ? Makes a difference for play time…

I level up first. After completing Act I my character is usually 19-19,5 lvl. Then I start farming Warden (and kill everything in labs 'til I reach level 22-23). Then eventually I start performing speed runs (Warden), boots /w haste do a great job actually. I kill only those creeps who’re blocking doors and champs (and who’s near them). Then I clear out underground jail (4 or 5 aether crystals for the future crafting lol). The good way to go fast is to go through abandon storerooms. It may seem longer, but far less crowded (and safer).
After that, I usually test my luck in cultist’s hideout (behind the iron door). If I die, I go back to my previous route, if I don’t - then I extend my route. At some point in time, this routine transforms into cakewalk. Almost, lol.

It’s important that I’m farming with my blademasters only, cause they have good resists and defensive ability. I would prefer farming with occultist but I still don’t have good items to make it really easy. Pyromancer (after nerfs of BWC) isn’t as good as he was, though. =(

Greens are fairly rare. Let’s just say that it take about 18 levels before 2 greens drop for me, and lots of Epics aren’t really all that epic.

As I stated in the trading thread, the rare item drop rate has been abysmal for me. I’ve played Act I with 4 different chars and have not been able to accumulate a very impressive collection of blues or greens…perhaps around 15 blues in total, despite having visited all secret areas and doing numerous farming runs. Buddy of mine has only played though once as an occultist and only acquired one blue item…he ended up with mostly yellow and a few green items.

How some folks are able to acquire in excess of 100 blues is unfathomable.

EDIT: and since Act II seems to be taking its sweet time, I’ve decided to try out PoE…any folks around here tried it out, in particular, the skill tree which looks almost as though a masters degree in mathematics may be required to navigate it properly.

I guess, you can have 8 blues per char from one shot chests (Putrid Den, Burial Cave, Hallowed Hill, Cave in Abandoned Waterfronts, Burrwitch Estates, Depraved Sanctuary, Ominious Lair, The Warden) and another one from quest “A sacrifice”.

It’s drops suck more than here, and itemization isn’t interesting enough to justify the lame trading. I’ll say it’s a good game, but even though I’m a GGG fanboy I still have to say Grim Dawn is superior in everything except the online aspect (races) and mechanics.

On the note of blues, there also needs to be some loot bias for them. I hate getting a great blue that’s useless for my current char. One shot chests need this even more, since they only drop one thing once, and I don’t want 7 Defenders of Devil’s Crossing on a non shield NB

Can’t recommend it, played it for a good amount of time. The desync is abysmal, later on you basically can only shift+attack because the chances are pretty high you end up in another room and dead.
Someone else already mentioned loot. Mid-cruel it start’s to get lame, enemies basically start to scale faster than you do.
Oh, and currency is NOT for use. It’s for trading, but they put the use-effect on it to deceive newbies.
It’s also poorly optimized, i seldomly played in party because of massive fps-drops from certain skills - which is especially fun if bosses use these skills and you have a screen freeze for the first 3 seconds of a boss fight…

Yeah, I tried PoE yesterday evening for the first time and after about 3 hrs of play, I can’t say I’m overly impressed. The biggest difference I noticed was the lack of ambiance…the game seemed “flat”, and why do I need to press the ALT key to highlight loot that’s been dropped ? The background map also sucks in a major way…it almost looks as though a 4 year old kid drew it with crayons ! The most disturbing aspect however was being in the middle of a dungeon only to receive an online message that the devs were applying a patch and that I’d be logged out shortly…SIGH ! Mandatory internet connectivity to play a game (and a free one at that), is retarded in every conceivable way !

Reaches for uninstall button…

3 hours isn’t anywhere near enough time to get a feel for PoE. There’s quite a lot in there that they’ve done right, and I think Crate should look to for inspiration (not for copying). Same for Diablo 3 as well actually.

By level 17, I’ve found 10 blues & about 10? or so greens. I actually sold a few greens just to get inventory space back lol.

I’m currently wearing 3 blues(umm I think 1 is a set item of some sort? Explorer’s Trousers), 4 greens & the rest yellows.

My favorite blue so far has to be the Reaper’s Touch I found(still using it).

I’ve been farming Warden, Hallowed Hill & the other high level dungeon(cant remember the name, Reliquary something). Warden is good for greens & stuff, and the other 2 places are good for experience(bought a 7% exp ribbon off the merchant) & high level yellows it seems.

Wish there was more inventory/bank space in this game though. Running out far too fast, even with bank alts.

BTW! Running to the Warden can be a pita with the over 9000 mobs in the way that seem to like to congregate around the doors making it difficult to run through. That’s my QQ for the day

It’s better to clear the mobs out on the way to the boss you’re farming. I’ve gotten far more greens and blues getting to the Warden than from the Warden himself.

20 hours played

Found 2 blues items
And 0 green items

I have played 93 hours now (6 chars between 25 and 35) and I have (probably) found more than 100 blues und 200 greens. I don´t have one item-set completed, but I think, the dop-rate is ok.

And about PoE: I played it, too (more than 500 hours of playtime) and gave up finally, because the loot is incredibly bad. During this 500 hours of playtime, I did not find one good item. Then I met a guy in RL who runs 10 bots 24/7 and sells the items that drop for real money. He expained me, that PoE is the favorite botting-game of his botting-community, because of the low drop-rate => that was enough for me to never return to PoE.

On Topic:

I too think that the drop rate is fine… though that being said, and as I mentioned in other threads on the boards, I’ve gone through a crazy lucky streak with b17… I’ve been getting a good 5-6 blues & 6-7 greens PER HOUR… this to me is the most I’ve ever got with any character since early alpha.

Off Topic:

I’ve probably put in a good 600-700 hours into POE and have a very good handle on the dynamics and mechanics of that game.

Although it is possible to make progress in the game, its far too stringent in terms of its “crafting”, if you can call it that… and you’re right, the drop rate is too low and the economy is damaged by all the RMT, which many people in that community like to delude themselves into believing is not so bad. but Its obvious there are tons of bots and people selling for real money.

Even still though, it takes forever to find valuable items and when you do, people will never wish to pay you a fair price for it if you wish to sell it… its just a shame… there are many things that could be better about POE, but the devs seem more interested in creating new content and microtransaction items rather than fix some of these substancial issues.

I was planning on going back to play once the new leagues start in a couple days, but I don’t know if I can muster up the will to log back in quite frankly. It takes WAY to much time to get anywhere in that game, and if you don’t want to have to trade, its just not a fun game.

There are 1 and maybe eventually a second boss that probably need looking at but other then that, the drop rate seems ok. For the time being though, Ill keep killing Lutra :stuck_out_tongue:
