Alpha status update

Well it needs to hurry up before the Alpha so I can get in, if they still give away keys for purchasing it. How much is the game?

85$, 50$, 35$ and 18$ versions I think though I could be wrong on the last 2.

The $50+ ones are exclusive alpha and beta and some others just include the beta. Hopefully when this game comes back up to buy they will still be giving these bonuses away, and hopefully before the alpha and when I have the extra money to spend. Hopefully they will allow people to post screenshots and videos of the alpha so I can see the game if I do not get it.

seeking information everywhere, to know the real state in the game is located here, because I do not at this time a valid game I keep glued in front of the monitor. And April, August there will be the Alpha as they say? and the beta?To what extent are the development?

Alpha will (probably) be may 2013, beta will be about 6 months later i suppose.

none of us actually knows.

we haven’t actually recieved any actual details to determine a date.

Chillax and assume they are on valve time.
Makes things a lot easier.

6 months? Don’t think so. Alpha is more polished than an usual alpha test, and they want the final release to be this year, so i think 3 months of Alpha and three of Beta is more realistic. Maybe even less than that.

Prepare to meet Murphy’s Law.

Well, Beverly Hills Cop is a funny movie, but I don’t think he got nothing to do in this discussion.

Just joking  . But I will bet with anyone that the game will be out before February. Book it.

So that’s possibly 2014. :stuck_out_tongue: You contradict yourself. :stuck_out_tongue:
Anyways I think 6 months is a bit on the long side as well. 4months seems more probable. But then again, like medierra said:

I am new to forums but I have been watching the Grim Dawn creating cycle, so if I remember well Arthur Bruno said that Alpha will be in the early 2013. we are well beyond that period and getting close to middle of 2013. (I know they said its gonna be in the next 2-3 weeks but I am not buying it 'till I see it)
. If you look at the Wikipedia you will see that the Grim Dawn is set to be released in August 2013 which doesnt look likely from this point in time.
I think they should have released the Alpha (however small it was) when they said they would, instead of making it even bigger but being in delay. More people would have seen the Alpha (someone would have posted it on you tube) and more of them would have pre-ordered copies which would give significant boost to their efforts. Not to mention the player feedback would have been more valid, and they would have more time and money to make improvements.

Hey all i don’t remember where but i m 100% sure that i have read it the say if the alpha is release and all things is going fine with the alpha, Grim Dawn will be release in august. In this case if the alpha is coming on may i really hope the full game will be release in September to the end))))).

They said “early 2013” if they did have no problems. They found some major bugs.

I’m buying the 2-3 weeks thing, since they just need to find an appropriate build right now. No more problems out there.

Every product you wanna sell needs an estimated release date. Estimated. For example, Camelot Unchained has an estimated release date of December 2015. That’s more than 2 and a half years from now. Do you think that’s gonna be the exactly release date? Don’t think so.

And “real” Alphas are never public, cause they are in a very poor state to be played and judged. So no, I don’t think that would have lead to more pre-orders or provided a better feedback.

All in all, the only thing we can do right now is just wait, and we will see how things work

All I am saying is not to get out our hopes too up when it comes to release date.
Alpha’s are most of the time closed, but since they had gameplay more than a year ago I dont think there would have been problems, an hour of gameplay time would have been enough (specially if you try out all of the classes you get much more). And why not let it public on Youtube (some smart ass will post it I can guarantee you that) ? I am not a game developer and my opinion isnt much valid in this case but I really think they should have given us more by now, since the kickstarter besides a dozen screenshots.
Also system requirements are in best case vague. I would have understand that maximum system requirements for Titans Quest would have been minimum in Grim Dawn, but the way I see it Grim Dawn will be demanding as much as TQ which I would hardly find acceptable for today’s terms.
How will the game be optimized? Will it benefit using more cpu cores?
I can imagine some people with 2000$ PC’s screaming their lungs out if the game starts to lag and they get chopy screens while playing with friends, if the game uses only one core like Titans Quest…
I have probably missed that, but I havent seen anyone mention dedicated servers for this game, will there be any or will the players host choice be the only one while playing on line?

With the Alpha in this state, devs think game is good enough to be shown, so they decide to not have NDA, so people will be free to upload their videos wherever they want. That’s absolutely great and couldn’t be done with a “real” alpha.

About system requirements, you’re right, there will be always some guys who only will play games which put their “hardware proud” to the top and will complain, but most of aRPGs point and click players knows about the aesthetics of this type of game, so I’m not worry about huge dissapoinments in this case.

And no, sadly the game will not have dedicated servers. Medierra said that they need around 2-3 million bucks to get the kind of servers they want, and not even ActiBlizzard has spent that amount of money in Diablo 3 servers, so imagine.

Devs said too that if the game is a success, they will think about it, but we’re talking here in a long, long term.

I really hope this game is a huge success! and brings in millions! I say this because I know the devs would re-invest alot into expanding this game. If it was a billionaire, I would have pledged 50mil and say GO NUTS! lol. I will be buying the game day 1. I just really hope there is something in the game that will be a in-game gold sink. you know a reason to want money even after you got amazing gear. either way, looking forward to release!

I have Phenom II x4 965 BE@4GHz and Ati 6850 and I have 120fps+ in TQ, but I also get huge lag when battling with big piles of monsters, one second I am with full health, the next one I am dead, since the game uses only one core. Also if you played TQ do you remember when you use teleport that gpu usage drops dramatically and you get 2-3fps? It happens with NVidia cards as well, so its not a driver issue as some would have guessed.
My PC is for todays terms considered mediocre at best, but its a beast compared with TQ max system requirements and I still get lag due to bad optimization (there were dual and quad core in that time, they could have fixed it) and I am aware that people who have much better PC have the same problem. This needs to be fixed for Grim Dawn, I also expect better graphics than in TQ. TQ had kick-ass graphics for its time and I hope it will be the same with Grim Dawn.

They say optimization is better since they got much more experience with the engine. Also, they have put more options in video settings that you can turn on/off for better performance. And night/day cycle, climatic effects (like rain), etc…

Again 'till I see system requirements I will hold my infatuation.
Day and night cycle was already in TQ so that is a normal thing. Now if the game will have dynamic weather there is a question of whether will there will be any use of it? Example if it rains can you turn it to snow or freeze the wet foes? Or will the rain extinguish fire that your you or the foes have casted. Or if you drop some kind of chain lightning on wet foes will it do more damage? Magicka I think did those crazy stunts. If weather change will have impact on gameplay by all means I am up for it, but if its pure cosmetics they should drop it (let the mods do it) and focus their resources on something else.
