Alpha status update

Today will be glorious !!!

Not your “typical alpha” sounds more like a demo.

Not quite either.

Check the link that you quoted if you want to know more.

Anyways I’m fine with this variation of “alpha”.

Dear God, is this pointless alpha vs alpha test vs demo discussion still going on? Who gives a sh*t honestly. I just want a fine taste of GD.

Well medierra basically told us to define what it is ourselves… so the conversation is quite pointless yes lol.

it’s like the Alpha Male in the wolf pack

the #1, the Uno

Grim Dawn will be the Alpha Game in the arpg genre

Haha, great shot!

It give the children something to do besides eat the furniture and tear up the carpet as thier hyperactive levels begin to climb to the stage where its kinder to shackle them to a deeply burried post out in the middle of an empty field.

Just be sure ot stand out of range of the chain. They’ve been known to rip limbs off. :stuck_out_tongue:

I hope the alpha will be soon, but even if the engine comes from TQ, there always going to be bugs, PC build spec configuration bugs for example, as long as the game has no game breaking bugs, then great, I just hope my bug hunting skills gets used at some point, its what I’m good at

so a bit peeved that I’m not part of this pre alpha test group, but I hope to be of some use at some point, we all have a vsted interest to make GD great, not just about the content, to make sure the build / game is bug free as well,

I just hope the release is very soon, I can’t wait much more

no reason to get your panties in a wad shrimpy. its a demo. no complaints just stating facts. it is what it is.

Well there you have it. It is factually a demo. Case closed!

whew Thank goodness for facts! I can hardly wait for the cough demo to be released!

Correct me if i am wrong but a demo is a small part of the game after the full version is released. That means that the content in the game is final. GD version will be up for content feedback (meaning the content is not final), next step will be a beta version and last step final release, so i would consider this version an alpha and not a demo. Either way the debate is moot.

Highlighted the important parts.

We’re still reporting bugs and proving suggestions/feedback. It’s still considered an alpha.

You’re wrong. :stuck_out_tongue:

Some demo in the past had exclusive content, or are made before the game release. Some game even let their content lacking alpha or beta for free as a demo.
But yeah the majority of demos are just a castrated or time limited final release.

Correction, a demo is a small portion of whatever they have to offer.

Am i wrong really?

You may be right but for me thats what a demo is or should be. Anything other than that is not really a demo, its something else. The point of a game demo is to try a small part of the game and decide if you like it before you pay to buy.

About our “debate” GD alpha still must be considered an alpha and not a demo for obvious reasons!

The main reason I would not call this a demo is because a demo is a free sample meant to help people decide whether to pay for a game. This alpha costs more than the final game will

Course, by that economic criterion, it’s not an alpha either, since alphas and betas are for testing… and if money changes hands, the developers pay the testers not the other way around…

Was it Notch’s unprecedented success with Minecraft that started the modern phenomenon of the “paid alpha”?

well Blizzard had playable demos of D3 way back in 2010 at BlizzCon

those demos didn’t really represent the final product, so maybe they weren’t technically demos

but they were playable by people at BlizzCon
I’m not sure what to call them if they aren’t demos

It’s a Demo!

It’s Alpha.

Demo!

Alpha!

Demo!

Alpha!

Rolls eyes who cares?

I sure as hell don’t care if its called an alpha, demo or a Gelfling!

Eitherway its a sneakpeak at what the devs have been working on. Its not a completed game and some of the stuff that we’ll get to see may change a little before the end. This is merely a sample/test of a small section of the game.

Some people will play it out of curisity.

Some people will play it to see if they can break it.

Frankly it’s getting irritating reading over the debate as to what exactly the upcoming sneakpeak will be labled as.

you know what… I’m going to call it a Gelfling now.

Its not an Alpha, its not a Demo.

It’s a bloody Gelfling! :rolleyes::stuck_out_tongue:

Bring on The Gelfling!
