Auto compost yard

Later in the game it gets a bit tedious to constantly select fields for composting. It would be nice to have a auto compost function.

I agree, a global setting that would say something like: “send compost to lowest fertility field” (on/off)

I also agree. I pause the game and make this a task I do when the first Trade Bell of the year rings, and while at first it was a nice feature, now it is just a yearly chore.

I would love if the composter can choose the field with the lowest fertility on his own, automatically.

For newest public-testing verson (0.76p2)

  • Compost Yards now automatically dispose of excess waste, allowing them to continue to collect waste even if all 3 compost storage areas are full.

I think question is solved.

Depends what they mean by “dispose of” …

Eh I could take it or leave it. It’s not hard or time consuming, and it feels like it would be entirely pointless to have the building if it was going to happen automatically anyways.

Without pausing, it is undoable.

That isn’t the same. That just means that even if all three yards are full and waiting to be assigned to a field, the nightsoilsman will continue collecting by just dumping the extra into nothingness. You will still have to manually pick fields to fertilize.

However, depending on how the void dumping is handled it could actually be an exploit to improve the composter. If they have to take the cart all the way back to then have it disappear it won’t help, but theoretically, if the nsm collects from a house and then immediately discards it into the void, then they could just go from house to house ‘poofing’ the poop away. This would allow them to keep up with waste creation far more effectively, at the expense of not fertilizing your fields.

But I agree, this does not solve the manually applying fertilization to fields issue.

I suggest an option to enable “automatic fertilization” or do not enable, could make everyone happy :slightly_smiling_face:

Manually fertilizing becomes unfun at some point. Not more than manually replanting fruits trees though. I’d call for an auto-process in option for both.
