jajaja, sorry if this is a noobish question, but can you explain to me why using calirvoyants hat is better than say ulzuins? If going ulzuins shoulder+head I thought it looked decent, is the +1 all skills that much beefier?
Thank you for the guide!

yes.
go to grimcalc and look at the difference between a lvl 21 brimstone/static strike vs a lvl22.
it scales VERY hard as we reach closer to lvl 22, and even more so on the last level between 21 and 22.
if we are missing the last level it is alot of damage lost.
the build is a bit tight on points too so +1 all skills helps out all the passives and buffs in occultist as well
my recommended setup will exactly cap both skills at lvl 22. it is however difficult to obtain these gear, if you are unable, then just cap brimstone.
No that’s good.
It means the devs will think there are strong competing builds in GD and they can stop nerfing my blademaster because its “too strong compared to everything else”.
If he claims even faster timings it would actually make me happier because then Devs might reverse some of the nerfs I have to put up with.
Hey, newer player here but i like the look of the build and archatype of dual pistols, i see the build is heavily gear dependant, how would it fare if i can only aquire a few of the legendarys until i can farm up more myself, or is that a pointless endevour?
mass legendaries are not a requirement, however what you should have is enough +brimstone levels to get it close to lvl 22. here are some more obtainable gear that will help u achieve that:
there is a blue pistol that looks very similar to exterminus but just doesnt have the debuff, it also has ias and +3 brimstone, its called empowered oathbreaker
conflagration relic if you dont have ulzuin’s pyroclasm; ulzuin’s pyroclasm materials are actually really easy to farm, u can vendor most of them, if you have the mats i’m happy to craft it for you.
the low lvl blue amulet that gives +1 demo and +1 soldier skills
shadowspark hood, a blue helm that gives +demo skills and IAS is EXTREMELY common drop
most of the tankiness comes from devotions and skills so actually not that gear dependent.
when your gear isn’t good, focus only on getting the resists needed for the particular areas you are doing. for instance, if you are not doing chtonic areas u dont need vitality/chaos resist, this will help not spread urself thin.
so the short answer to whether this build is playable with bad gear is: how bad?
if you are trading for legendaries, the single most important item, ie. if you were to have no other legendary besides this, would be exterminus
funny this comes up again, the whole Y in Z seconds thing in the title just made sense to me since its a great way to objectively measure the effectiveness of a build.
the CT guide came before mine but i don’t think i actually saw it before i posted. I did read the “savagery etc” guide back then, thats probably where i got the etc thing from and it kinda just stuck.
btw nice stormcaller guide too, i actually made a char to 80+ in HC with it, fun build.
Yo! Love the build, have been reading thread and looking on Grim Calc all morning trying to get a feel for how Pyro’s can be made strong. Really like the Regen aspect of your Devotion tree and rushing those 2x skills (Solael’s/Giants Blood) early on.
That said, I am a super new player, bought game Monday, and I am level 15. I am planning on self found, aside from gear sharing with GF.
In terms of leveling, I am stick with a 2H rifle for now…I assume that is better than Pistol + Shield for level, as DPS keeps me alive in Vet and Elite?
While leveling, since I am earning my skill points and devotions, should I really really try and ignore fire strike aside from 1 point and rush Static/Brimstone, or as a first character with no other gear should I maybe stick with Firestrike and build slower? Any input appreciated there…as a new player I am having a hard time figuring out when to put points in to my second class…I think I put too many points into Occult Mastery too early b/c I wanted Solael’s Witchfire and Bloody Pox…will be dropping Pox. Have been loving Frailty since I took it though.
Cheers!
I think you’re missing the point here - Most proved his build works because he killed everything. You’re skipping a lot in your videos which is counter intuitive because drop rates have been buffed for every mob except Nemesis chests. So, in your videos you should clear the entire dungeon in order to post a competitive clear speed.
I mean, I didn’t even watch your full clear vid but I can see you ignore like atleast 50% of the mobs you see - that’s not an effective farming build no matter how much AOE/ST DPS you do. You have to show that in actual numbers, and since you’re using run times as a number, you have to show that, and then optimize it, but you aren’t.
Also, it’s not just about clear speed. It’s also about finding legendaries. How are you going to do that if you’re not killing everything you see. Also your map is like 90% explored.
already discussed, i already added a 2nd vid killing all heros for a 9min run. nonhero trash is still worthless. rogue chests esp nemesus were much better. i still don’t find heros worth killing on my way to fabius considering its like <5 min per run anyway. i’m mostly retiring this guide as i completed my newer betterbuild.
Definitely ignore fire strike and stick to Brimstone - hands down the best bang for the buck!
I’d use the 2H weapon instead of 1H + shield to keep your kill speed up, also it looks more bad-ass
I see you maxed blast shield in your new build, do you think we need max it in pyromancer too and if yes …from which skills take out points? … why is better saboteur than pyro?
saboteur damage output is just much higher, play style is very flashy with a gap closer too, check out the other guide:)
Thank you
the melee bouild looks good. But for us who sticked with ranged variant, could you please write in guide what augments and components you use on pyromancer? it is hard to see pictures … thanks
its pretty much the same as other one
weapons - choice of +human damage(homestead revered), +undead damage(rovers revered) +hp/regen(rovers honored) +aether/chaos resist(outcast revered), choose depending on what you are farming or if need the resists.
rings/neck - 2x mogdrogen’s sanctity (rovers revered), 1x fire dmg+chance to reduce enemy dmg(kymon revered) <-- this is very important, we hit fast so it procs easily, its like a warcry
Rest of the body is flexible - various resists combos depending on what you are farming currently and your present gear
Components:
pants/shoulder - silk swatch
body - chains of oleron; other reasonable options are Kilrian’s shattered soul and sancified bone <-- for chtonics/undead
helm: leather hide for fabius, sancified bone for general purpose
boots: mark of modgrogen
hands: unholy inscription
weapons: mark of dreeg + imbued silver/purified salt/deviltuoched ammo; depending on what u are farming - blessed steel is solely for stats, we do not use sacredstrike (shard of beronath better stats than this i think, but too expensive for minimal difference)
belt: dense fur
rings: mark of illusion or corpse dust
neck/medal: attuned lodestone + anything, lots of reasonable options
Can you please confirm if your stat allocation (All Physique, 10 spirit) is right?
EDIT: I’m also curious which of your two builds (Saboteur and Pyromancer) you recommend for someone’s first high level character. Basically gearing from the ground up, which one is easier on the frustration level.
what about stat point distribution ? how should we do it ?
Rofl it’s like an Anime battle where the main Hero finally unlocks his true inner strength and suddenly that looming, seemingly immortal Nemesis becomes a little bitch. What a joke.
I just got done leveling up Occultist (Demo is 50, Occultist is 50) and the skills in Demo are complete. Could you share what skills to focus on putting points into Occultist first?
solael’s witchfire -> posession -> curse of frailty (shouldn’t need many to get this to lvl 6 and lvl10 vulnerabiltiy with +skills) -> blood of dreeg + its secondary.
you can do it in any order really. this are all good.
I do my runs where I hit only the 3 main bosses in Arkovian Undercity ( porting in from Broken Hills ), and Kilrian. 3-4 out of 10 runs I get Moose during my route in there, it is like a 4-5 minute run, if that. I average about 6-8 legendaries per hour, plus several recipes, warrants, and a few tonics of clarity here and there. No way I am clearing all of the trash in the hope that one of them drops a Legendary, I get plenty as it is. As far as comparing clear speed times, you have a valid point. As far as legendaries, let’s be real, as much as people want to claim so on these forums, they don’t drop enough off of trash for me to personally waste my time on it, imho.
