Banks Anyone?

Sometimes you need a loan and sometimes you want to earn some interest.
What about either an upgrade to vaults or a separate building as a bank?
Soldiers wanting to be paid but you don’t have enough gold? You could take out a loan, with interest of course.
When you have some extra gold and want to make some earning, deposit it in the bank and earn some interest.
Banks could also be ‘secure’ storage and unable to be raided.
Interest rates could be a static fixed value or affected by external values (for example happiness) as a variable rate.
Both the loan amount and the deposit amounts would be capped at a suggested maximum of 1,000 to not unbalance the economy.
The bank itself would have a modest monthly operating cost.

This will make a lot of sense if/when other settled factions (not just barbarian camps and raiders) are introduced. Having a suprnational bank doesn’t make sense when youre out taming a frontier - and I don’t recall the game mentioning that your settling party left from a more advanced kingdom/settlement that engages in international relations, or even if the departure was on good terms.

Maybe something like a state-run bank (as opposed to international) where modest amounts of capital could be raised on short notice by selling treasury bonds to your populace. In times of abundance, maybe there’s a menu to authorize microloans among the populace, which are paid back with interest over time. Feels like it would be more thematically on-target, in terms of self-reliance.

Could open a few fun avenues. Maybe the microloans allow for the building of small, backyard businesses which end up providing small, long term benefits. For instance, if the small backyard business was raising up to 4 chickens (depending on the shelter tier), they’d have a semi-consistent to surplus stock of eggs with irregular raw meat, making that house virtually starvation proof while also potentially displacing inbound food and making that available to other households. Surplus could be represented by something like a dozen gold a year in taxes.

Oh, and an administration building with a magistrate to deal with drunkards and tax evaders.

This could be a whole DLC :sob:
