So I have Belgothian’s Strikes, bunch of WPS, Word of Pain, Shadow Strike (just for blinking, no cdr on this char, so about 3,2 seconds cooldown), Ring of Steel, Inquisitor Seal.
Grim Tools does not allow assigning neither Assassin mark or Blades of Wrath to Word of Pain, which is annoying if it’s true in-game. So what would the optimal setup? Char is going to be critting a lot, 3,5k OA before Deadly Aim.
Inquisitor Seal
Always asign such devotions to skills that make you deal damage constantly and (if possible) are AoE. Assassin’s mark procs off of crits, so a DoT is the best option for that since it deals damage non-stop every second and can crit as well. Inqisitor Seal is a good choice too, because you just put it down and it applies the Mark all the time.
That works differently. Only 1st tick of dot generate attack event.
Auto attack> BS> WOP? Execution
My belgo is fury on AA, Mark on execution and BoW on BS
Wait, really? I’ve always thought it works per tick. For example, Aether Corruption does spawn additional Arcane Currents if it is applied to one enemy, for example Ravager.
Aether corruption, also CoF, Word of pain and Bloody pox aren’t dots. They are continuous debuffs which apply their effects every second throughout the duration (wording might not be clear on this one). Because they ‘hit’ their target every second, they’re so good at proccing devotions with low cd.
So Assassin’s Mark can’t be assigned to WoP for some reason, which is frustrating. So it leaves us with Blades of Wrath to Belgothian Strikes and Assassin’s Mark to Inquisitor Seal or WPS? If we choose to assign AM to WPS, which wps is best for it?
Also, bit off-topic, Whirlwind worth investing 1 point?
I would definitely put it on the seal, it’s much more reliable.
WPS I would not use for devotion skills unless there is no other option.
So what about Whirlwind? Worth having it as wps? Saw some builds are avoiding it because of animation or something.
It’s ok on Korba for example. The %dmg is still kinda low
There is no way seal is reliable for AM. Passable yes but not ideal.
Nightblade + Inquisitor?
I say, in this case the best skill to assign Assassin’s Mark is Storm Box of Elgoloth (one point) + Lightning Tether (one point). Main skill has AOE and hits once per second, and Lightning Tether doesn’t have AOE but hits three(!) times per second.
This skill is perfect for proccing Assassin’s Mark: it’s very spammy and can be casted from long range.
Yeah, but what can I do then? AM to belgo strikes and Blades of Wrath to some wps so it procs once in blue moon? It’s so annoying I can’t bind on crit devotions to Word of Pain.
That’s a nice idea, Storm Box is indeed a proc machine. However, it’s an auto-attacking build and I already have to press 2 extra buttons (apart from main attack), which is Word of Pain and Inquisitor Seal. Having one more button to press is going to be annoying.
Man, trust me, belgo strikes> mark , shears>fury (campaign) or execution> mark for crucible with blind fury on belgo strikes

I might be too crucible oriented in my suggestions.
First of all AQC is aenemic with belgo. Just my opinion (i’ll update him in 0.6).
Belgo is a about consistent decisive, brawny wps/hits. AQC and WD fells super bad with it.
Belgo shears i used it for fury in crucible cause you fight many enemies/bosses at onc there. belgo will pretty much proc fury every time shears proc in there. But for campaign it’s not the best.
But since you say you are a boss and not use fury then it’s easy. Mark on strikes and blades of wrath on blade spirit. easy peasy
Thanks, I will try Blade Spirit then. My build is a bit different from yours, not only because it’s Infiltrator vs Blademaster, but also because I am building it with Crucible in mind. I am still leveling it, not too much time these days. I will pm you the build, would love to hear your opinion.

You will need the AoE in crucible, or at least I feel it’s needed. It;s 70K AoE in 5m wit fury every second
