Hello everyone! I’ve somewhat recently started playing the game again and I’ve been working on one character for most of the time back (this totem build). I’ve been really enjoying the feel of that build since it can do some decent enough damage while I’m still fairly tanky. I’ve tested out some other builds but I’ve had issues with the survivability on quite a few of them. Pet builds had initially been what I tried but I don’t know if it’s me, or a combination of the pet/enemy AI, but I couldn’t get them to work well enough to feel comfortable enough to survive some extra hits if I mess up.
Does anyone have some suggestions on some forgiving builds that still deal an okay amount of damage? I’m not attempting to push to the hardest parts of the game yet, just pausing soon on the character I’m playing since I’m getting to a point where it’ll be time to start going for the BiS items/rolls. I wanted to try some other builds out before dedicating the time/resources that would take. Any help would be appreciated!
There are a LOT of good options out there, but above the forgiving and ok damage part (cause most skills can be made to be like that with a few tweaks) what matters is if you enjoy the gameplay.
I suggest you make some characters and just… try what you think sounds like fun.
Then we can collectively suggest things to make whatever you have picked as tanky and forgiving as possible.
If you really want specific suggestions:
Drain Essence is in a really good place right now. It has good itemization, is easy to use, and when geared properly, with a good second mastery, can be made basically immortal.
Grasping vines is pretty easy to play while leveling and requires basically no gear other than +skills. It also has a few very good end-game options.
Forcewave is as basic as it gets, solid and powerful, and the Soldier mastery has a few layers of protections available.
A certain amount of pilot skills is needed in this game and to have high resistances/armor etc it is difference in the build it self, how you have itemized it and how you play it
Thank you both for the suggestions. I’m not leaning one way or the other when it comes to caster or melee builds, since I enjoy them both, though the ranged builds have been a nice change of pace compared to what I’ve done recently in other ARPGs. One thing I do like with the current build, and something I have tried to find in others, is not having high actions per second/minute. Gives me more time to consider the fight rather than needing to constantly micromanage my skills, which I’ve enjoyed quite a bit compared to some other builds I’ve tried. Maybe once I get back into the swing of the game I might branch out more but the lower skill floor builds have been nice to ease back into the game with. I’ll have to check out the skills and builds that you both listed to see if there’s anything I can try next (the Drain Essence skill builds seem interesting, same with the retaliation ones).
