hello all, sad to say but i wont be playing anymore due to deep mining. I cant play as i find deep mines a whole pain in the arse. I when starting a new map as they introduce new things into the game the issue of deep mines in my opinion is getting worse, at least half if not more of the mines on the map are deep mines and makes the starting of the game incredibly difficult to the point that without a lvl4 town you cant make use of the deep mines and they take far too many villagers to run them to get a half decent amount from them. i know you can trade for things, but ive noticed certain items hardly ever become available from the trader, such as gold ore, flax, even sand to a certain degree, so i ask, what id the point of a resource you cant mine, and you cant get hold of it from a trader ?
anyhow thats enough from me, i wish you all the best and maybe this might get resolved.
It all depends on which map type you play on.
Regarding traders - you can ask for a specific item, however you need to be prepared to pay a premium for it (I usually have to do it when I want cows or horses, I’ve been unlucky )
heres an idea… how about all mines are deep i.e. have large enough quantities that u can deep mine them… but also have a smaller top layer u can use normal mine’s on as mines usually have multiple layers right?? …
Yeah, like having a mine with limited quantity of resource and once harvested you can upgrade mine to lvl 2 and continue with deep mining. Tho I don´t rly like the amount of villagers you need to have in deep mine compared to how much (or rather few) resource they´re able to gather. Could use a tweak. I understand making it same as normal mine would trivialize the game but increasing the amount of resource gathered with twice as many villagers or halving it but also halving villagers needed would be cooler. I mean, I need villagers to do other things, can´t have them all in mines.
Sand and clay - fully manned (16 people) deep mine will get you a bit more than fully manned (8 people) normal mine.
Iron and coal - same qty with double crew
It’s only gold that’s completely not worth the time.
I second this. Every deposit should be mineable with a shallow mine to a certain degree, then be converted to a deep mine in order to access the deeper, unlimited deposits.
But deep mines should also be twice as productive as the shallow ones with twice as many miners and much more advanced mining tech to make them sustainable. But to represent the progressive digging and bracing of the mining tunnels, they should require a perpetual upkeep of wood planks and to a lesser extent, iron bars for mining cart tracks and candles for light.
You just miss one little detail. Deposits for deep mines didn’t replace finite ones, they are just additional deposits, with this in mind you should realise how pointless this topic is.
Yup. Before was a map just like the ones we have now, except without Deep Deposits that we can use to continue to collect our own resources in the late game after the regular deposits have run out. Now (since quite a while ago) there is a bonus, with regular deposits unmodified.
