Can Arcane Champions please be COMPLETELY removed already?!

Title + yes, I’m obv. pissed atm and yes, I’m also well aware that changes to them are on the way.
Still I don’t think that Arcanes are healthy for the game at all cuz they are just an “oh, guess I just died to this bs again” button when playing SR and they’re hidden in packs nearly impossible to spot a lot of times.

Let’s be real here… who isn’t annoyed by them just randomly removing all ur auras & suddenly u drop dead thx to that?

If there was at least a proper tell (like a fat thundering sound like gravas orbs!!!) when they use their stupid tiny purple orb that is oooooooooooooooohhhh so visible in the clusterfuck that SR often is…

Seriously… pls consier removing them.
I don’t think they add anything at all to the game aside from being a massive “fuck you, ur dead” annoyance. :-1:

Venting & rant over…
Rly needed to get that off my chest.

Cheers, the usually kind (but not this time! :rage: ) Mergos! :clinking_glasses:

This is why Arcane heroes were made. :scorv:

Cross that and name them “Arcane assholes” or something ngl… :grimacing:

They are basically just the avatar of Zantai, just on a much smaller scale. They nerf you only temporarly.

Don’t give Zantai ideas…
Inb4 he adds a celestial boss at some point where all his abilities are floating arcane orbs with unlimited reach & once they touch you ur gone… :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Boring standart answer… lame

Seriously tho, why do you want to keep them?
I don’t get it.
Not at all…
What’s interesting and fun about them?
Right, fucking nothing. :person_shrugging:

EDIT: And I’m by far not the 1st person who is “annoyed” by them, to put it kindly.

Just play in vanilla without DLCs :stuck_out_tongue:

You already got it:

A “no” that says literally nothing of value even tho arcanes have been ranted about since forever… VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERY NICE…

You can go and play ur vanilla if you want to, I prefer the whole package.
And if something is bs like arcanes I won’t keep quiet about it. :person_shrugging:

What “terms”?!

If ur just here to meme, trying to “fuel the flames” & add nothing of value to the topic please just leave, thank you very much!

Everybody hates arcanes on first encounter. Then we learn to deal with them and eventually we love them. You’re at the beginning of this journey it seems.
What’s fun about them? Their memorable attacks. Keeping players at attention. Making them rant on forum.
An arcane monster made me rage quit the game for the first time. You can’t put a price on that.

You don’t have to “keep quiet” about it, but I don’t see the point in talking about it any further; you already got your answer. If you think that’s a wise investment of your time, you do you.

The part I agree with: they should have a very noticeable sound when they launch the dispell projectile. I’ve suggested that at least twice in various PTRs already and I definitely wasn’t the first or only one.

The part I disagree with: the rest of it.

Arcanes are one of the few hero types in the entire game that actually change the way you have to play. It’s not just a “eh I don’t care what affix you got, just die” like most other heroes. Tell me the last time you thought to yourself “oh my god it’s a Regenerator hero, top priority target, launch the payload!”. Right, it never happened. Same for pretty much everything else, barring the few specific Diseased heroes whose pools actually disrupt. You’ll notice Swift and Timewarped but it won’t change much in the way you play. I remember back in D2 when monster affixes first became a thing in ARPGs (probably not invented by Diablo but it popularised it) and it made a bloody big difference if an enemy was Cursed, Extra Strong, Extra Fast, Fire Enchanted, etc. There were reasons to be afraid of and play around certain affixes. In GD they feel much less impactful, particularly at endgame where your cc resists are usually high enough that you don’t care about Frozen or Electrified. Arcanes are the one exception that actually feels gamechanging. The only problem with them is they’re extremely punishing when overlooked yet we’re not given an adequate warning of their presence relative to the threat they pose. They can blend in with Electrified and their projectiles can be invisible, as well as unpredictable (sometimes a hero can “count” as aggroed off-screen even though you didn’t damage them and then you come over to them and they launch their dispell projectile immediately without any starting delay). That’s the only problem I have with them. That I have to keep a mental count of approximately when they’ll launch their dispell cause there’s no audio warning and I can’t rely on being able to see it. Goes double for builds with Elemental Storm or other tri-Elemental purple effects.

Far from it… well over 2k hours in GD & most of it in SR FYI.

I do indeed.

If you could actually properly spot them in the already mentioned clusterfucks that happen alot of times in SR.
And personally having to sloooooowly approach each pack (without triggering it too mind you) while again sloooooooowly hovering over each and every champ in that pack (if you can even, again, do that without pulling them) doesn’t sound very engaging & fun to do either imo.

As already mentioned, I agree with that point. :+1:

Is that hyperbole or is that how you actually imagine playing around Arcanes is done? Cause if the latter then no wonder you find them super unfun

Indeed is.

I’m well aware that ur supposed to dodge the purple orb that is coming off of them or focus them down asap the moment you spot them, which is what I do if possible.
It simply happens waaaay too often that you get a random dispell to hit you.

Arcanes are the best thing in the game. They are a challenge, they force you to play carefully. That’s good. The game would be much easier without them and it’s already easy.
