Unfortunately this has been done to death and the lines in the sand are drawn. They’re bad design, but they’re here to stay and trying to explain why they suck to the people who like them won’t work (because the people who like them sure as shit didn’t use reason to arrive at their position to begin with).
It is not Arcane heroes problem, but rather crude and annoying dispell mechanic (which will change). So no problem, I guess?
P.S. For true “hardcore” players here. What about not only dispelling auras and buffs, but resetting attribute points, devotions, unequiping gear or restarting game session? How interesting and challenging, right?
lol, this is ridiculous. So people are saying that if we really want challenge, we should want a challenging enemy which basically shuts down your computer.
Nonsense.
Arcanes pose a reasonable challenge, which can be overcome with smart and careful play. I have no objections to the upcoming change, as long as the period during which the player remains dispelled is reasonably long (say, close to 5 seconds).
Removing all challenges from the game will result in dumbing down of the game.
someone not liking something doesn’t automatically make it “bad design”, a few people"/“more than 1 person” not liking something does not make it bad design
it’s the same when you have people complaining about a boss dealing too high or “insta death” dmg in dark souls, or that head shots is an insta kill in FPS when all other shots are not, or 1 weapon is an instan kill when all other weapons are not
etc etc etc
you not liking something because you either can’t be bothered to engage with the mechanic/"just want the same regular easy smooth facetank 0 engagement"fights as previous in the game does not make it a bad design (although the execution of the design could be better), it means you’re “lazy” or inattentive or want static fights or easier fights or whatever; neither which is default good/good gameplay
a good reason could be, because unlike Lox; arcanes are not unfair. While the “engagement” element might be lazily or sloppily implemented or a “pseodu engagement”/technicality mechanic in effect, it’s still not an unreasonable mechanic, because it’s asking little so the player, nor so little that it’s nothing (we can see that from the complaints )
i dare be arrogant enough to continue this stance: if you get nullied; it’s your own fault
(and remember i’m far from a top level player/pilot ala roman/banana etc, so i’m not even trying to be elitist here; if i can deal with it so should other casual pilots like me)
which (as said) wont stop the overall issue myself & many others have with them.
also I’m not “whining”, I’m stating why I think arcanes are bad for the game and should be gone.
plus all that has fuck all to do with “getting gud” even tho I’m aware ur meming.
but I have already stated what I wanted to say and I wont repeat myself.
If anything i wish more hero types forced the player to pay attention instead of being allowed to mindlessly click buttons and kill everything with no punishment. Most of the hero types in this game are far too passive outside of arcane, maybe timewarped, and reflective heroes for DoT builds.
point is, that often enough it is physically impossible to react to something which comes at you from offscreen and/or with a clusterfuck goin on & that the telling of when the arcane orb happens is next to impossible to see / read / react to. (unless it is grava)
so unless you are some “cosmic entity” with supernatural abilities (obv. exaggerating here) you wont be able to avoid that “mechanic”.
Seriously though, I can sympathize with op. Playing pet builds, I usually just run through stuff without paying attention because I know pets will tank the nullification. But playing a non-pet build… yeah…
But at the same time, I am kind of ok with Arcane heroes existing, especially given the upcoming change. Community League’s Moira has kind of desensitized me…
