To cut down on time spend travelling and spend more time working at remote sites I decided to build home shelters. They get occupied but I can’t control who lives in them. Would be good if they was some way of controlling where people live. Then you could have them live at the remote site and work rather than travel to and from home.

If there is empty housing near to their workplaces villagers should try and move into them.
So create the housing first then the mines.
The prob with this is they will still spend the day running to the other side of the settlement for a bar of soap/whatever
Not if you put a market down there as well. I put some housing, a well, market, compost yard.
Then you got think about defences and what not. I created a few shelters and got the time spent travelling down and working up, not full proof but it helps. These are only standard pits, if you were doing infinite deposits it might be worth setting up the whole shebang.
Personally I would like to see something like a frontier outpost building/blockhouse, that would act as a shelter and provides all the basic needs of nearby workers so they dont have to run about, ii would also be a town centre type building so vilagers could garrison it.
I’ve found a place to setup the whole shebang. I’ve started setting it up but I need to move some food, soap, clothes etc. I can disable storing those things in one place I guess and move some over. Would be nice if I could split the stack and store it a B rather than A.
They also live in the new place but work halfway across the map, having some fun trying to setup a second major area.
It’s not really working. I have storages setup and wagons but there not sharing the storage. You don’t get the bonus for the town centre, which is a pain. Villagers living in new site but working in the old. They just take the houses regardless would be nice if they weren’t occupied until there were jobs available. Spend all there time running around collecting the basic needs and setting up the remote site was to prevent that.
Trying to have 2 villages does not work for me, better the “time spent travelling” and just have a couple of shelters setup to reduce that.
