Cloud saves folder doesn't accept my character

I typically play with cloud saves turned on in the game, but off in steam. Recently, I moved a character out of the cloud saves folder into another folder. When I tried to move them back, the character would not show up in the character selector. I tried moving the character to the local saves folder, and it showed up when I switched the game over to local saves.

Far as I know you need to have cloud saving on or off in both the Steam settings and the ingame Options menu otherwise characters won’t show up properly.

I don’t keep my saves on steam. It’s not a steam issue.

After restarting my PC, my character showed up.

EDIT: I did some more testing. I moved the characters out of the save folder, then restarted my PC, and then moved them into the save folder, and they wouldn’t show up. Then I restarted my PC with the characters in the save folder, and then they showed up.

Where do your cloud saves go then if not to Steam’s?

Game has two save folders. One in Documents/My Games and one in Steam/userdata. Having cloud saving enabled in game stores the saves in the Steam folder. That’s where I keep my saves. But if I move a character into that folder, it doesn’t show up in game until I restart my PC.

I have cloud saving disabled in steam. My steam is installed into the default location, which is Program Files (x86).

Far as I know you need to have cloud saving either on or off in both the Steam settings and the ingame Options menu. Having one on and the other off just causes problems. Tbh best to switch to local saves and then just back them up regularly.

this is normal, you can’t just copy paste saves into the steam save folder game wont read it without it being imported then, been like that for ages and an age before that

If you want to move them someplace else you could try messing around with symlinks
