DC Prison - this shit is real!

At long last, we got in the first art piece of the Devil’s Crossing Prison that will be the start of the game. For those who missed some of the story details I’ve given out earlier, human survivors have taken up refuge behind the thick walls and iron bars of the Devil’s Crossing Prison. This is where the game begins and the inside of the prison, along with a few outlying buildings will serve as the starting town.

Note that there is still work to be done breaking apart the walls and adding weathering and other details but, its in-game.

Took a day and night shot for you.

Those trees are gorgeous! As is the church!

Professional day/night cycling effects. September is a HUGE screenshot carneval. Cool.

Very atmospheric!

Rhis just pointed out that there is some sort of weird blockiness going on in the screenshots… looks like it started happening on the one from the 19th, which I think is the first one I posted from my new computer. This is very mysterious.

Man, you’d think taking a screenshot would be simpler…

Those look absolutely beautiful! I love the color that’s going on with both of those screen shots, the contrast that is. I’d like to see more of that sort of thing.

Absolutely awesome update. Thanks!

Awsome! Nice trees

That’s what I’m talking about in the previous shot.

Great shot! That’s what I’m talking about! Real gorgeous atmosphere. I love those red leaves that contrast with the dark surrounding.

haha… Man, I dunno about the rest of you guys, but sometimes it feels like I’m just on a forum with some mates who are designing a game. Where else do Devs speak like normal people? I certainly haven’t come across it yet. They get there coloured text and act all “mr srs biznzz”…

You guys are bloody legends!

can the guy on guard duties get a chair?
that’s gotta be some boring crap standing all day,
plus i wanna smash it on him.

The bug is pretty thin, with only close attention to notice. But it is present in the two screenshots (day and night), being more visible in the screenshot of the night.

I’ve really been enjoying the screenshots we’ve been getting these past few days. The ambiance looks incredible.

Very, very nice! Shots like these make me remember just why I love games!

<starts looking into induced hibernation>
… Ahah! This should make the wait until GD more bearable! …
<bashes head into wall to induce “hibernation”>

I love these screenshots, so much goodness :D. A little request, how about some zoomed in, close up shots of the player model and the zombies?

The trees and buildings are fantastic, but I’d really like to see what kind of details the player and the monster models have.

Great screens! Both the day and night shots have superb lighting, but the lantern-thing is a major win. A lot of creepy atmosphere in both shots, which is awesome - 'cause in most games when it’s light out stuff suddenly looks very cheerful (I remember walking around in Fallout 3 at day time going like, “aw this isn’t so bad” and getting mutilated by fire breathing ants).

I’m flipping through them in two tabs and have just noticed some strange things - the wall segment on the bottom right, near the lantern pole is missing from the night shot, is that some destruction of am I just being too attentive? lol

The second thing is that Windows border on the bottom right in the night shot, which is just me being too petty :>

I can’t wait to run around the game like a Japanese tourist, checking out the scenery first-hand. haha

Keep up the great work, guys!

Haha… Now this is what I call “Detail” …

This month is the month of grim new age. and it’s bursting with Screenies!

Which makes me really Happy  outstanding job crate, so the long pause won’t be disappointing.

This really looks wonderful. Two fat thumbs up!

I do wonder what the white line under the gate is for though?

Come on now… that’s obviously salt! :stuck_out_tongue:
Haven’t you ever watched Supernatural? lol

Ok, I’ll put on nitpick mode again, so don’t take as an all too serious issue, but the grass sprites in this screenshot look like cardboard prints. They’re extremely thin and lined up unnaturally straight.

But asides from that, I really love the screenshot. The structure looks awesome, it really gives that gothic feeling.

Ohhhh god you brought up the grass… That’s a sure-fire way of summoning Evil Medierra!!

Hides

Also, this is just a personal preference but… don’t you think that the lanterns could use a bit of a warmer glow at night? I think it’d add to the contrast
