So dot-retaliation maybe? Or I think there were a few ping-pong builds in the proposed build thread (movement skill bouncers).
Yup .
Don’t just go with yup. Give deh details
Nope .
(once you’ve had a chance to play around I’ll share my experience)
Fine then. Wait like a week because I won’t get the chance to try FG anytime soon
-
So enemies actually scale? That’s a bummer. I thought it would just be the numbers and mutators.
-
So, warlords, shields and easy cc res and then DoT casters, huh? Is there a tree to kite around?
Seriously, from the comments I have a feeling that getting deep in the shards is gonna be more a matter of mouse skills than actual buildcrafting…
-
Stonehide Stoneplate Grieves of Featherstep/Kings/Arcane Winds are back for all non-soldiers? Leathery Hide and things like that? I don’t like SR already!
BTW, is petrify and sleep gonna be a thing? What about the res overcap priorities, any changes?
-
What about the shard blessings (the shrines or what’s its name)? Are the numbers reasonable?
-
You know what has both shields and dots? Octavius warlord. The guy’s gonna be king on realms until a big patch arrives.
-
Ridiculous greens only stopped being a thing when 0.6 happened with all the overtuned resists on buffs in cruci. In realms it doesn’t exist so we’re back to that part again.
Nope, staying with Fiendflesh greaves!
And also it’s the matter of cc res and how important they were perceived as.
Remember how ppl were like “Boo! He short of 50% stun res! Noob!” or like “Good morning, class. Crucible buffs provide 30% stun res therefore success is contingent on having a base of at least 50% with very little room to compromise.”
Then someone realized that if you stack dmg high enough you don’t really need to cap stun res. Slow res to max sustain became the new stun res and Thunderstruck of Kings became like two servings of fries with no burger (in an age when the best builders turned purpletarian).
In the meantime, pets stood on the side and laughed. I’m really curious how SR will fit in this.
Crucible becomes fun when you slowly begin to strip yourself of buffs/banners
Here’s the thing guys - honestly, consumables are a must.
No 2-ways about it
Some build has to be king for SR depth. Why not Octavius?
It’s not the fastest campaign build or super boss killer.
It’s not the fastest crucible farmer.
It’s not the fastest shattered realm legendary farmer.
It’s only good for shattered realm depth Epeen. So again, why not Octavius? This diversity is good and depth pushers being tankier makes sense.
I’ve said that the shield throw side of Octavius is maybe too strong in dps but other than that I think it might not be so crazy as people think, and even might be healthy for the Meta so long as it doesn’t over perform by too wide a gap in depth. Maybe it’s tank stats could be toned down a tiny smidgen somewhere due to being based around ranged skills. Let’s wait and see how well other builds do.
Octavius just stands head and shoulders over other DoT builds if you factor in both offence and defence, that’s all.
Virtue set is like more dps squishier Octavius. It takes me pretty darn far in SR too though.
Some caster DoTs maybe need a bump up. Some other DoTs maybe need better AoE.
Like DEE can have better spread than Octavius. I completely agree Octavius is over tuned. Specifically just Warlord Octavius. But I think there’s merit in seeing how the Meta ends up before deciding exactly how much to tone it down vs tone other things up. I’ve played squishier builds that felt more “OP” in terms of clear speed, but just die sooner in SR.
Agreed. Octavius isn’t OP (except maybe aegis…can’t comment on that as I haven’t tried), but it renders most other DoT sets to susceptible to power creep.
IT damage as it is IS the best DoT damage type. So when you add on the benefits of things like inqui seal…
Pragmatically speaking, and assuming you have access to GDstash, there’s no reason to pick another DoT set/playstyle
Thanks for being reasonable in response to what I’m suggesting. I’ll also mention that I tested Inquisitor soldier Octavius and oathkeeper Inquisitor Octavius and found both significantly worse for SR depth than Warlord. As in, Virtue set variants might be better than a couple of Octavius variants. Or I built them wrong.
Warlord Octavius is the only one that was somewhat of an outlier in my tests. Hence why I think shield throw stuff on Octavius can just be tuned down. Shield throw itself seems fine to me. The itemization supporting it in legendaries might just be a tad strong for damage. It’s not that much better than cadence for leveling lol. Anyhoo I’m starting to sound redundant, I’ve shared my views and we will see if we can avoid a knee jerk change to this wonderful set.
Tune-up the weaklings, don’t slam the good ones!
EDIT: May I ask what was the key difference between Octavius tactician, VS warlord. Is it the additional RR?
More benefits from wearing menhir’s bastion relic. More DA, beautiful soldier passives. Overcapped resists. Forcewave pairs well with aegis for IT. Soldier gets circuit breaker. Health. More shield block and recovery.
War cry reduces enemy dmg without targeting. Soldier is pretty crazy when synergizing with anything. So mainly the additional tankiness was not small. And that doesn’t seem super fixable given soldier is soldier.
Is Kalastor < Aegis?
I’ll send you two characters tomorrow and let you decide. Felt like it tho.
