I’ve recently (0.9.5p4, 2500 pop) seen dozens of villagers die due to exposure every winter.
They walk past temporary shelters that are stocked with firewood, but won’t go inside and start a fire, and die.
They walk past homes. Maybe my town’s villagers are exceptionally cruel and prefer to see their neighbors freeze to death rather than let them in to warm up?
Suggestion 1: villagers should use temporary shelters to avoid death.
Suggestion 2: same for businesses that are open to the public, like markets and bakeries.
Suggestion 3: villagers should allow their neighbors to warm up in their homes, before the villager continues their journey.
I noticed this too with villagers dying from exposure, although my population is much smaller around 1200, i usually have 3-4 deaths from exposure every winter. Majority of them are dying in my city next to houses.
with my large town, I get around 20 + dying from exposure. I just had a winter where I lost 95 villagers to exposure. I notice that they all tend to have worn coats. Maybe the settings for worn coats needs to be updated or to have them get new coats. I have 356 coats on hand which they will not use till the coat is completely worn out. It’s very frustrating to have so many villagers keep dying like this. It makes me want to quit the game.
Same issue. They were mine workers at 2 mines with 2 temp shelters next to them. Miners were seeking shelter ran past the shelters when they dropped dead. I immediately check stock at the shelters had food, water and firewood.
I have also noticed a very substantial increase in deaths from exposure since the lastest update: decline has jumped up from around 5 per year to 25 at its highest, with exposure related deaths up from 2 to 22.
I don’t know for sure, but I don’t think it’s suddenly related to temp shelter stock levels.
100% sure, beans and firewood are stored there, I have 3,500 , I have some mines , long way from my village , every winter over 30 villagers die from exposure。
Well, i did see that they not always use temporary shelters. But you need a very good surplus of hide coats, linen clothes and shoes to very minimize the freezing deaths. But sometimes they still die indeed. Maybe they need to walk to long to get new clothes. Maybe it is better if the market somehow have a storage for it? If this is the problem? Or if the villagers dont get in time new clothes and shoes, maybe they need to leave earlier to a storage to refresh there clothes and shoes. Maybe store it also in temporary shelters so they can faster refresh clothes and shoes to prevent a long walk with freezing exposure to home.
