Deep Mines can be placed where no ore exists

First, can anyone explain why the game allows you to place a deep iron mine, deep gold mine or deep coal mine where there is no ore available? This picture shows what I mean:

These are very expensive and it really sucks to waste a lot of iron and gold when you accidentally built a deep mine when you meant a surface mine. Only option is to demolish it :frowning:

Second, while placing that mine, why does the ā€œminerals in rangeā€ show the kinds of ore you can’t mine with that building? This makes no sense to me either.

Use the F4 key to show your resources. Deep mines/pits show as 00/00 while ordinary ones will give how much they contain.

Yes I know that. What I’m saying is you shouldn’t be able to build a deep mine where there isn’t any appropriate ore. Clay and sand have to be over the ore, why not iron, gold, and coal? It’s easy to accidentally select the deep mine and it will let you build it, then have to demolish it. Even if there’s NO ore anywhere near the site.
