With the new expansion approaching, it is with great pleasure that I reach out to reconnect with you all. It has been some time, and at long last, Devon Thormane is well on his way to the level 100 achievement. Just broke level 75 today. @MikeHeydon@CaiusMartius@Contragor
I am both excited and terrified for his journey into Asterkarn…
One thing is for sure, Im going to need to shore up those resistances! Pushing towards that level 82 / level 84 breakpoint for some gear upgrades and overall improvements.
I, like you and multitudes of other players, am waiting in anticipation for the new DLC.
I have been having fun though in the meantime with all the tuning patches that Crate have been working on in the meantime.
Old gun wielding toons that felt lackluster in the past have become very viable and kick-ass with these changes as well as some other of my other builds that struggled a little now shine.
Load some of you old toons and take them for a run. You may be pleasantly surprised at how some of these are now very effective.
I use from shared stash, but my stash is not very fleshed out- My HC experience has mainly been with 1 build that was tough enough to unlock the XP potions and the rest have all been HC Classless builds.
I havent done much farming with the 1 build that actually uses classes, but I should so I can pump Thormane up a bit. I remember Contragor (I think?) recommended the sentinel of the three gearset.
Well, playing HC classless has taught me a lot about maneuvering, and boy is it essential- Particularly in those engagements.
I use the Seismic leap mobility skill to close the distance (retaliation damage is added to that attack, so it usually hits pretty heavily) and then I hit them with the Brutal Shield Slam, with that hefty retaliation damage added to the attack. Half the time it vaporizes them, the other half the time it takes a big chunk off.
Between those, I use the evade for positioning, and I keep an eye on my health. If things get too hairy I am extra cautious of my evade/mobility skill to dodge sunder hits, etc.
ranged/caster bosses is a bit of a slog, but classless is so tough, I dont trust a build that doesnt heavily prioritize survival, and retaliation damage fits perfectly into that mold.
I’m currently grinding levels in Normal mode, its already tough doing hardcore classless, I dont have the balls to push too far into Elite or Ultimate yet. Need to grind to 90 in Normal so I can get my resistances right and gear up first. I may re-do all the devotions, as well. We’ll see.
Ive given this build so much love and attention, I would be heartbroken to lose him, so Im pretty timid to make a big change, at least not until level 90-ish. I will just turtle along, grinding levels in normal for days until I hit 90, and then re-evaluate.
was thinking if maybe something like this could be handy on classless as retal/against non melee heroes and bosses Empowered Soiled Trousers - Items - Grim Dawn Item Database , (if some of them were bothersome/too slow that is)
but i don’t know how much that hits for on classless vs blank auto attack
or if something like seal of shadows/seal of blight is simply more dmg despite no rata
Yeah the empowered version of those pants would be great, unfortunately I dont have them. I suppose I could farm on my level 100 character until I get a pair of them though. I might actually do that.
Great to see you enjoying the challenge, M8! It’s been ages, my primary account can’t be recovered it seems, so I had to create a new one.
Regarding your build, since you’re heavily into acid damage, try using the seal of blight - acid purge. It might boost your dps significantly. It also has a 36% WD and 6% leech. Should help sustainability. And if acid is to remain your main damage type, I’d still redo devos and grab Murmur and Behemoth. Down the road you will get more auras to bind to, while Rumor can be bound to acid purge. That’s a 30% perma RR on top of solid extra dps.
Another route you could explore with classless is going pets with blightshard amulet, dirge relic, skele from offhand, temp pets from gloves and wep, and farming ghol endgame.
In any case, please keep posting your progress, hope you succeed, bro!
@Knife looking at your grimtools, please take time to fix some of your resistances. You can still get burst down to 0 HP in Ultimate with your HP pool. It only takes one damage spike of the wrong damage type like aether in your case to lose your character. Take it slow and steady. Res is critically important right now. Especially when you’re so close to 94 and might be tempted to rush it.
For real, I rushed it yesterday and almost got one shot. I stopped messing around in Ultimate for now lol. Back in Normal and early Elite, will just safely grind out to 94 from here.
Even in Normal mode, this Mofo in the Corrupted Tomb almost one-shot me… And my Vitality and Chaos res were like 40% over the max.
