It would be cool if the traders were a bit more responsive to what you need in your city. It seems like once I build a goat farm or chicken ranch or whatever, the trader who sells those animals won’t show for 2-3 years, and sometimes when they do they won’t have the needed item. I’ve had goat farms, cattle ranches, and chicken farms sitting empty for years, waiting.
That’s just one example, but it’s perhaps the most annoying, since livestock can’t be purchased until you have built the facility for them. Another frustration is when traders don’t have tools for sale for 2-3 years in a row, and you’re not yet at the point in the game where you can make your own.
I was wondering if maybe you could put in a request for a trader to bring particular goods, with some limits (like one special request a year, or even every other year)?
It seems worse since the latest patch. Even with just one storehouse that is literally right next to the trading post, and with two workers (it’s just level one, so that’s the maximum) it is taking quite a while for them to fetch things. I do start stocking it during the winter before, but sometimes a bunch of stuff becomes available that a given trader wants, but lately they have taken so long to get those items over that the trader leaves just as it arrives.
Actually, on this play through it seems that all of my folks are taking longer to fetch things than previously, and I don’t think my city layout is worse than it was, and (as per another post) the laborers are chopping down trees and simply leaving the piles of logs behind, and the gatherers are taking forever to harvest some resources. There’s one bird’s nest left in their designated area, for instance, and it simply sits there.
