This is a good topic yet not too realistic for players and for the devs.
Here is why.
Balencing is a tricking thing for devs. it’s not just tuning down some numbers here and there. This game has the most sophistication of its genre. Devs actually make it too good so you really can come up with a lot of possilibities with all themetaicla sets, synergy sets and independent items. If they had an online server, that could make things easier, just by analysing all the data of builds of all players. Offline,it’s hard, if no one tends to share, there is a limitation of what devs know about.
Another thing about what should be buffed or nerffed. Is there really a standard that can be measured with?
Let’s say for Blademaster, one guy single handed took it to lvl 100 in SR. does that mean this class should meet some balence? Not really, because you still have to consider what potions he used, what mutators of the map he encountered, what the odds he can defeat these levels with other Bosses and mutators, also what’s the playtime and death counts.
Even everything checks out for good, it still has to be really careful when to introduce a balencing patch. You got to be careful not to hurt the varieties of this class and other classes, for which there were too many negative examples there.
and let’s say for warlord, warlord is no doubt very popular in recent versions, yet according to our collection of builds, most (retaliation) warlords uses excessive MI gears to be where they are.
and for a lot of skills they could be overly underestimated by public until some very experienced player shows you the right way to build around it.
Also balencing too much is not good for the players and for the game too. There are too many users. Some may have time for the game, some may not; some took a week to make a build, some took months. Then balencing in some senerios is actually an equivalence to efforts for monthsin vain.
Everyone loves to start a new challenge with a new character but none would love to see their well-polished BD to be terminated or ever worse, becoming a mediocre one. There it creates some hinge to feedback and sharing.
@ Chthon
I don’t want to be a paper cannon kind of guy any more. SR has taught me a good lesson.
emmmm just realized I talked too much
Nevertheless, this is not a problem for my community. We have our version of Build Compendiums, which is open to all of these who’s been active in this game and those who joint our chat channel, over 4000 members now.
most are held with high standards that SR 7576 is a must, yet sr80 is very solid as well. also I have collected some builds from this forum, and thank you, just let me take this chance to say it to all of yo.
organized by version, classes, damage types, core skills, pet/player, etc. .
