Eye of Reckoning questions

Some Eye of Reckoning questions:

  1. It is impacted by attack speed, not by casting speed, right?

  2. Does the weapon type used have an impact on the “reach” of the attack i.e. 2handed scythe vs dagger?

  3. Does run speed impact how fast you move while using the skill?

  4. Can you block while using the skill? Will being hit interrupt your attack?

I know only that enemy damage does not interupt EoR. Stuns and freezes do though, as usual.

  1. I believe so, based on what happens when adding a weapon with a quick attack to the DPS number.

  2. My observation is yes: you move at your normal speed.

Not sure on 2 & 4

You do can block whilst whirling. Guess Zantai was the one who stated that.

Edit: oh shoot. No, that goes for AoM. So I only assume it also goes for EoR.

1 yes, attack speed. It gives you a reference in the skill description, would be incredibly misleading if it were cast speed
2 no, the radius is listed in the skill description
3 you move at whatever your run speed is
4 there is a legendary shield which gives bonuses to eye of reckoning so I assume so

As the answers are above, I would like to ask other questions:

  1. Does armour protect from EoR?
  2. Is EoR performing best with a shield, 2h or DW in the late game?
  1. if you deal physical damage yes of course

  2. Not sure yet, we have seen some good looking builds in all three variations in the pre FG theorycrafting threads.

Thanks!

  1. Then, unlike shields, armour protects from AoE too. Good to know. This explains why physical EoR is useless vs armoured enemies as it has low damage with high attack speed. Therefore, physical damage is a wrong choice for that skill despite it is one of the 2 main damage types of this skill…

no idea what you mean by “wrong choice” though

What is “good” about physical damage is that most monsters do not have high resistances to it.

I mean, as armour is a flat damage reduction, fast and weak attacks (EoR is an example) may result in DPS close to 0.

considering very few monsters have armor higher than 3k or something, if you have that low EoR dmg/hit you are in trouble anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

How is EoR for procs? Does it tick like a channeling skill, every 0.x seconds?

Every source of flat phyz is checked against armor separately. So you loose much more that 2.4k dmg against 3k armored creep .

I know that.

Does that include retaliation? Do multiple sources of physical stack for one big retaliation clump or a number of individual chunks?

Strange, most ppl don`t know and game guide is also silent about such behavior.
So you have fire, phyz and %WD dmg on spin-to-win skill and flat phyz and flat lightning in soulfire
If you convert all of it to phyz, armor would block flat phyz and converted flat fire separately and your %WD also separately.

I was also aware of the general damage issue of physical stacks, but retaliation would suck if all the individual pieces of physical retaliation were applied vs armor.

I just started delving into the retaliation side with FG, so…

…what’s the definitive answer for a collection of physical retaliation? Also %retaliation.

That is news for me too. Is there an official source? I mean, does it really work as intended? Because it sounds a bit strange: after all, there is one attack (not counting Soulfire skill modifier) to be blocked by armour.
In this case it is time for respec into a DW piercing build. BB celestial XP and dreams of 100% shield block chance and recovery :). BTW, will the flat damage of EoR skill be converted into piercing if my main weapon is a sword?
Are there piercing shields in the late game? Is it possible to convert shield damage into piercing?

Yes, it procs every 0.2 seconds with 100% attack speed.

no idea. Never played retaliation.

2 years ago there was a large thread with testing, but it was deleted for unknown reason.
No, it doesn’t work as devs planned from the beginning, but after polishing in items, skills and monsters stats we have balance.
