Why does a barn explains it needs grain, but then does not take grain while it is in stock?
Second example, it wants root vegetables, I have 10k, but the barn does not pick them up?
Hay is prioritised for barns far as I know so if you have enough of that they probably won’t take any grain or root vegetables. Don’t forget that hay was only recently added to the game for this purpose. Icon just hasn’t been changed/updated yet.

The barn doesn’t need grain, root vegetables, and hay: it needs grain, root vegetables, or hay.
In the second picture, it’s true that they’re a little low on fodder, possibly because some of it had spoiled, but they won’t need it until winter anyway, and maybe one of the herders is already fetching some.
