When I hold my mouse cursor over an item in the build menu the screen does not scroll when I use the mouse wheel. Anybody have that problem?
Yes I do. However, I think it is my computer not being capable of processing the scroll well with the taxing game going on. I seem to get better response if I pause my game first. I am getting a new BEAST of a computer, so will come back and comment when I see how the new computer handles the input.
Yeah, I can confirm this, too. The scroll event is ignored when you hover over a buildings icon in the build menu.
Would be very interested in the spec of the new computer and how you get on. I am about to drastically upgrade my PC and info on the best components for playing city builder type games (which is all I play) is hard to find.
This might be worth its own thread to compare notes. I can tell you that on my PC, things get pretty rough and slow above 2500 villagers. My current game has 4400 and it works, but it’s… slow. Loading a save takes about 10-15 minutes , a day takes about 20-30 minutes at 1x, and frame rates are around 5-6fps.

The machine was top of the line 4 years ago, and honestly is holding up pretty well imo. I’m quite certain I’m not GPU constrained, if only because the utilization never goes above 40% or so. This is a CPU constrained game - and single-thread constrained at that, I think. And given the slow pace of CPU improvements in recent years, I’m not convinced that frame rates go up wildly with the latest-gen intel or amd CPUs. I do know the devs have said they think they have a bunch more perf to squeeze out through optimizations, so maybe that helps more than the cpu upgrade.
If you start a thread tag me - I’d be curious to compare - and meanwhile I am also super curious about @ibw’s results. I’m holding off buying a new beast for myself until I can get ahold of nvidia’s next-gen stuff, but getting a report on
My son is building my computer. Will get back to you on the specs if it does well.
