What would a Forager’s Hut look like if you gave it a broader set of priorities? Right now, you have “Priority” and “Neutral” but I think it would function better with more tiers, maybe even the full five chevrons (2 up, neutral, 2 down) you use elsewhere to indicate strength.
As I play the game now, I prioritize EGGS most often because they appear first and disappear first. I set the Work Area to try to isolate the eggs, since they have the shortest season, then move the Work Area to target Medicine Roots/Herbs/Willow and give 1-2 of them Priority as well. Nuts/Mushrooms get another Priority and a new Work Area in the fall/early winter.
It’s all “extra”. It’s a fun game but gets repetitive, especially since Forager’s Garden produces so little.
The idea would be a 3-to-5 tier Likert scale of “Take first, take second, take third, etc.” that would let your Forager target either the highest priorities or the first items to appear among competing items, without needing to finetune the Work Area so often.
