New update 094 is killing my industry. I need wood to make coal, woodfire, woodwork, … But you decrease density, I must stop playing that save because my city will die in winter when I run out of wood.
The change to log production has taken a devastating turn in 094 compared to 093. I know there was a density decrease in the 094 update. Now, my Forester Camps will only plant a fraction of what they did before. Not only that, but those trees seem to grow much slower (possible bug?). An oak tree planted by a Forester is still Immature at 5 log after 10 years, while a tree I planted as decoration in mature at 11 log after less than half that time. My log stores are dropping fast for a 3k population, and buying them from traders is not the answer as there is not enough to buy. I have 8 Forestry Camps. I could build 8 more, but I don’t think it will be enough.
Soon I will have to shelf this city to keep from loosing it until a solution is found. For now, I am going to try supplementing trees from the decoration menu to get enough wood in the Forester Camp’s work area. This used to be done before Work Camps were upgradable.
My request is… Please return wood production back to 093 status.

The forestry change needs to be reversed pronto, also if we could choose just to grow oak trees, that would solve alot of issues, I’m planting oak trees one at a time atm:(
Also if traders could bring logs more regularly please:)

I have four upgraded work camps just planting trees and when I need wood (and have surplus labourers) I just CLEAR portions, otherwise one camp is used just to harvest anything in that area while the camp which planted it is planting somewhere else. And I buy logs when they appear, though I wish I could buy planks.
I loaded in on year 130 after the 9.5 update, and let the game run for a few years. At that time all of my camps were marked to also chop down trees that were not mature.
At year 134 I changed them all to only chop down mature trees, and the numbers went up right away, and the prompt for “empty workareas” has not appeared since.
I have noticed the Forrester now plants trees more sparse then my arborist. I understand they were trying to stop the problem of too dense and causing parking issues but a tree every 3 tiles is a bit excessive. Might as well go back to mass planting your own decorative trees
Has the 9.4 tree wood value fallen? Used to be a mature tree gave you 11 logs or more, now I’m seeing values of 6, even my (gold) planted trees are getting 5 or 6, though with these I can improve the density.
These always only grew to half the mature level, anyway, so I’ve only ever seen 6 for maples and oaks and less for the others. (but tbh, I don’t really plant the others for gold)
