Forgotten Gods Development FAQ

In my opinion Grim Dawn’s multiplayer system is the best. I prefer playing online whenever I want instead of being dependent on an online service that doesn’t allow offline play at all.
And from what I remember (been a few years since I last played it), POE’s multiplayer is just an annoying trade chat. :stuck_out_tongue:

The only real downside of GD’s MP is that it crashes quite often, I hope they will look into these issues after the FG release.

Grim Dawns multiplayer is the best. I either play alone or with my friends. All that always online stuff sucks IMO.

Also, end game content is much better than diablo and PoE. Diablo endgame is just rifts. PoE endgame is just maps (same as rifts) and labs.
Grim Dawn still uses the entire awesome world for it’s endgame. I leveled a PoE char until lvl 80, then I realizaed that the world became useless and I could only play random maps or labs, so I totally lost interest.

The only arpg with more cool endgame content than grim dawn in my opinion was marvelheroes.

On the other hand, the gameplay itself of grim dawn isnt too good compared for example to diablo. Feels too static and while developing builds is awesome, the lack of cooldowns makes that you almost only use 1 skill and try to invest every other point into making that skill better.

Still, it’s my favourite arpg of the actual 3 big ones.

Please don’t make this a MMORPG. There must always be a single player aspect to RPG’s.

Any news on the xbox version? Can you tell us how it’s progressing and any sort of release window? Thanks! Looking forward to replacing D3 and POE with GD on xbox when it’s out.

It will come after the expansion and needs to go through certification.

Oh, but this is fine, i’m stuck in the 90s too.

Also, what “GGG” stands for?

Grinding Gears Games, the developers behind PoE

a team of 100 devs with unlimited money can do it, therefore it is easy enough for a team with 10 devs and limited funds, and a good investment on top of that… not sure this logic makes much sense

GGG is setting the new marks for Arpgs.

especially on the first G part of it, they can keep their new standards to themselves, there is a reason why I play GD and not PoE

They still haven’t hashed out a better multiplayer facet

not the least bit interested in better MP, definitely do not want forced servers / MP

The game’s great, but it will never take off until they deal with the crappy multiplayer system that’s available.

Crate is pretty happy with how far they have taken off… Not everyone wants the same thing from their game, if you prefer PoE go play PoE. You don’t find me in the PoE forums complaining about how I need to connect to a server to play it.

Thanks for the update! Was just wondering if it’d be soon after Forgotten Gods or like many months down the road as I own the pc version also. It’ll be nice to have another ARPG on xbox.

As for the POE argument, Grim Dawn doesn’t need to be as popular, they are doing well with the resources they have and are putting out quality content. I feel like the leagues on POE are getting super repetitive. Betrayal league was probably the worst league I’ve played.

I definitely wouldn’t mind if/when they make Grim Dawn 2 that they add official servers and keep an offline mode for the people that want that. Sort of like D2’s system.

Is a PS4 version out of the question still?

Yes for the foreseeable future. Atm only port is to Xbox.

Multiplayer isn’t so much the problem, as the character saves and ability to dupe anything without earning it is.

For who? For the ladder that doesn’t actually exist? Why would anyone care if a player use cheats to beat the game? How “fixing” duping would solve anything considering that tools like GDStash exist?

Indeed, there’s even a thread for this topic: [thread=29771]HEXED: Why it bothers you[/thread]

The devs allow free modding (they made the mod tools themselves), so that goes completely out of the window. This game isn’t competitive, there are no ladders, leaderboards or anything resembling competition.

And seriously, does anyone think games like Diablo 3 and PoE are cheating free? I bet there’s a ton of players with gear that was cheated in.

100% agree on this, Crate have done amazingly and in my personal opinion could teach GGG a few things. My multiplayer experiences in Grim Dawn are near flawless (apart from the odd crash from a host, which is very infrequent), compared to PoE where I had consistent to near permanent lag while playing with literally nothing they could do to help and told me I needed to contact my ISP to get put through another gateway or some such responsibility shifting solve garbage.

You also can’t see the end of the damn story of their game without playing some garbage unfun meta build a hundred other players use in PoE, unlike Grim Dawn where you can do literally all content with more builds than there is people that play it lol. And the community is better here. And GD doesn’t have micro-transactions for better transmogs like PoE, literally everyone can get them in GD. And our community trading is not like trying to get blood from a stone for the items you need (at least not in my experience).

Grim Dawn is amazing in terms of ARPG’s and in my opinion the best out there, Diablo 3 can’t even claim to have as many pluses that I’ve mentioned about GD so far, especially now that GD is gonna have what I consider a better version of Greater Rifts (Or “Greater Rifts done right” as my friends and I have termed Shattered Realm) for end game content with the new expac.

Hands down, it’s been amazing playing Multiplayer with my friends in GD, we’ve rarely had issues bar missing out on the odd exalted stash while leveling together, that we could always go back for later if we really wanted, though it’s usually not a big deal while leveling. Anyone who compares this to PoE has had a privileged experience in PoE, as I don’t know anyone in my circle of friends that would choose PoE over Grim Dawn, ever. /end rant lol

Not sure if you’re serious. Some people love single player games and we play them for the satisfaction of playing a game, not for competing with others. I for one could care less about ladders or leaderboards, could care less for PvP and would rather NOT have online play. Maybe I’m in the minority in gaming anymore. But I hope not.

I’m with you. I have no interest in ladders, leaderboards, or PVP.

Why would he not be serious? It’s well known the game is fully moddable and has been for years. You only have to look down in the Modding section of the forum to see that.

Of course, and bots and scripts etc
