Also besides that, isn’t there also the issue of Marketing? You can correct me if i’m wrong and misunderstood something, but isn’t like the date we get besides the advantage of further polishing also partly because of the advertising on the frontpage and they need to negotiate (is that the correct word for that?) when is the best time / spot or steam do it?
Besides that, few years back also to mention i don’t know how that works for digital world, i heard marketing and set release dates / deadlines which you don’t keep(even if you release it earlier… not only for delay) it’s a huge money sink plus can have consequences (though i guess that might be only under an publisher?).
However it still feels like a lot of folks doesn’t keept that in mind or are interested in that, and think it’s easy to developer and publish a game. You are finished and than push the golden steam-release button!

Start now for the 1.1+fix if you didn’t already, the FG download shouldn’t be more than 1-2GB (AoM was barely 1.5GB in itself)
According to Steam system requirements this one might be around 5GB.
Around 5GB, including the base game + AoM + FG. An expansion won’t require more than the base game by itself, this isn’t EA
Or maybe, Steam folder for my base+AoM is ~6.5GB already, still doubtful FG would take another 5 just for itself (maybe 5GB in size but it won’t download that much)
My dilemma:
The expansion releases mid-work-week around 19h00 locally. If it’s 4-5GB, with my mediocre internet connection I’m looking at a download time of around 3-4 hours.
Hence the plea for an option to preload.
The expension Is a little less than 3GB.
