i’ve yet to try it (and it’s not gonna be anytime soon )but i have the feeling that people overlook the pull effect of judgement, which looks awesome for melee builds. ofc that doesn’t make it a skill to build around exclusively but between that and the DA shred it looks quite powerful to me.
I’m still a little iffy on the skill points, but I’m feeling pretty good about the devotions. I used all 55 points, though I could have easily used Scarab in place of Shieldmaiden if I needed to. Shieldmaiden is a huge upgrade, though.
Vire, Obelisk, Messenger of War, Boar, Turtle, Anvil
No on-attack procs (no room for Targo the Builder)
No resistance reduction in constellation. (Celestial Presence skill necessary, must get Oathkeeper to 50 first, Divine Mandate and respec later)
Messenger of War grants a couple of wasted Red points, but the perks are very good, and the blue points are part of my budget.
I’m using it on my Templar. The damage it deals does not excite me, but the pull is nice, especially since I go on to use Callidor’s Tempest.
Noticing the area on Judgment increases with rank, I am wondering on the feasibility of 1-2-3 VM-Judgment-CT all under the effect of Ascension. I am currently trying it out but need more ranks in Judgment to deal with VM’s scatter.
I actually might take Arcanist just for IEE, though Flash Freeze is good for softening trash mobs too. But the combination is there for any mastery. Caster Templar is probably good too.
I’ve had a lot of fun using Judgement on my Paladin with Eye of Reckoning and Aura of Censure.
When used with a rush into the middle, judgement to pull in and knock over and then Eye of Reckoning to mop up all while reducing elemental resistances a huge amount you can clear disgustingly quickly.
That said, it can be slower on tankier bosses.
I still think it’s a lot of fun and a great way of managing big mobs.
Hi there, newish to grim dawn only about 200 hours played, enough to have a solid understanding of the game. I’ve been trying to make a build using the perdition set since before AoM dropped and I came across this bad boy. I really enjoy the layout of the build and the concept but I had one main question…your devotion choices, no matted how many times I look at them I can’t figure out what kind of devotion pathing you took to get to that final setup…I currently ended up going lion>sailors>raven>pheonix…then dumped into jackal so i can reach manticore…but even with respecs and what not I can’t figure out a path to take to end up with the final choices you made in the build…if you could send me a devotion path to follow that would be amazing. Your builds always kick ass and I always look for your name in the build compendiums you do great work and I look forward to hearing back from you!
I’m just trying send a message to x1x1x2 but I don’t have 3 posts yet on the forums so I can’t ask him a question yet. Not even sure if this is being posted in the correct spot but here goes;
I saw your build in the FG theorycrafting thread for Retaliation Perdition Sentinel. I’ve been trying to utilize perdition set forever and never came around to it. I really like this build but can’t figure out your devotion pathing…how did you get to that endstate for devotions??
I recommend you read sir spanksalot’s thread on devotion optimization (look at the guides and tutorials subforum). Retaliation isn’t fully fleshed out in that guide yet but it’ll help anyone who has trouble getting devotions right. Honestly I don’t even know how I arrived at that state (on mobile so can’t try to recreate grimtools). I just thought I wanted some devotions there and went for it.
I’ll just keep playing around with it lol, I’m just shy of 200 hours played so i’m still learning a lot i’ll have to give that thread a gander. I was just looking at the devotions and sitting there like okay, 3 red 6green gotta get this then this, but wait none of these are the endstate, and then I was like okay what can I get thats cheap to meet then respec, but then it turned into wait I can’t respec because nothing will meet the criteria…then I got a headache.
Those are very different and depend on what you intend to play and what item mods you have.
Vire’s Might leaves a trail of fire that is really good for trash clearing. Blitz hits hard on impact. And you can have both This is actually pretty fun with a third one (medal augment).
Cadence provides a little arc and some big hits. RF has %elem, AS, DA and Retal’ synergy.
There are no “best” ability. Usually, Cadence/Blitz is supported with physical damage, RF/Vire’sMight with Fire damage.
You have to take something with 5 eldritch like raven, then rumor, phoenix and manticore and then you can respec raven, as the 3 devotions give you the 6 needed eldritch points together.
Yeah I ended up going sailors, lion, raven, pheonix, jackal, manticore, and thats where i ran out of devo points, I cant respec anything either because they are all required to keep pheonix and manticore.
I don’t know about the damage output of Judgment being good enough for endgame stuff by itself (maybe as a secondary skill for retal builds) but I can definitely say that Judgment is one of the better devotion proccers in the game right now.
Since it has a longish cooldown with no duration attached to it, it bumps up lots of proc chances to 100%. Then if you take Heart of Wrath it turns on a damage aura on you for 3s if you hit anything, each damage tick of which will proc your devotion again with the skill’s high base % chance.
I’m using it on my Soulare EoR templar to keep constantly dropping Arcane Bombs around me
Can’t see any major issues with it - cast speed maybe could be a bit higher but since the main abilities dealing damage are RoH and Devastation I figured just under 180% was good.
Sort of came about after trying to spec up a Harra’s Cold PB/CT Spellbreaker and finding there just weren’t enough points to spec out all the skills I wanted: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/dVbdadON
The Mage Hunter fixes that by using Chill Spikes in place of PB and there-by gaining a lot of extra points to ensure Devastation is maxed out.
Not sure what the cooldown time on Devastation will be with this but I’m hoping under 8 seconds with the CDR and item reductions.
Any thoughts or potential improvements y’all can think of?
