Interesting but likely a typo. I could see 2 new ones but not 4 (that would be a huge fucking surprise if it was 4, that’s for sure, but I think that would call for more than 9 new Devotions).
The other alternative to being a typo would be an “intentional typo” meant precisely to troll us and rile us up, as evidenced by the fact that the stream jumped all over it. As to be expected.
Was not a typo, just to clear things up. Grava accidentally said out loud “4 new mastery’s” on the Dev stream. Was just a slip up.
Hopefully my sarcastic question of “will the Xpac have quick sand” will become true as Zantai seemed to like it. Although everyone will hate me for giving them a new idea for environmental damage.
^ @arnge well I am one with you, I dont mind more ground damage particulary sandstorms and all sand related crap. But what got me curious was that Grava mentioned that the new act will not primarily be just a huge space of desert like d2 but rather he mentioned about underground stuff and lots of variety in the world:cool:
Wheter there is going to be one, two or no new masteries at all, the safest bet would be to not set yourselves up for disappointment, e.g keep your expectatives at minimum and let the Grim Misadventures surprise you.
Well if the community shouts for a mastery then we will end up getting one!
seriously I will really be disappointed if no new mastery will be added. It’s probably the no.1 feature to attract players to an expansion but hey if the new game mode is shattering the norms then I’d best not be upset about it if that would be the case
Or just use logic and call it for what it is ahead of time. I guesstimate I have a 90-95% success rate for calling their moves well ahead of time.
It will be 2 new masteries. We aren’t getting 9 new Devotions for a single mastery. The amount of “area” content has no direct relation to the number of masteries involved. Devotions, on the other hand, is a pretty good indicator.
If it was a dual-shield mastery they would get ALL the monies. Buuuut, since they have already said that wasn’t going to be a thing I think it’s safe to say Crate is doing this for love and not money
Thing is, AoM masteries needed to synergize with 6 existing, both skill and gear wise. And we already had classes that either starved for gear on the higher end (deceiver, ritualist) or didn’t had a lucrative synergy (on-release DK, defiler). To make it easier existing sets were repurposed for supporting 3 masteries - a resource that is somewhat used up.
Now, hypothetical FG masteries need to synergize with 8 existing ones. Including high end and levelling gear. That’s why I prefer to be on conservative side and be happy if we get at least one
I’m just saying people should be careful with how they handle their hype… Of course, I’d love to see at least one new mastery added with this expansion… heck, if they manage to add two masteries, even better, but I’ll keep my expectations as low as possible and let Crate surprise me instead.
I suspect new game mode will be “events” taking place across the world of Cairn.
An event would be to protect the settlement from the horde by building the towers around the settlement and training/upgrading NPC characters that will help in fighting an increasing wave of monsters up until the final boss.
