again my bet here will get some kind of templar as Chthon said in one of his posts here, but I doubt it will be called templar. IIRC not a single item is named after a masterya. ( not including prefixes). And we have bunch of templar named items so it’s impossible to be called templar.

we only have prefixes of paladin not an actual item named Paladin, unliked templar… ( take note no items are named after masteries, remember necromancer gloves was changed to bonescavenger for this purpose)

if " Aegis of Menhir" is to be assumed real, and it is a fire related skill. then I would certainly not rule out a Paladin named mastery! this weapon here being fire related.
think of it we have Necro already! and adding a paladin named mastery is certainly welcomed because it’s familiar and is good for marketing! Paladins are shield related mastery after all!
Except that in popular culture this is all associated with druids (historically this is … less than accurate, but what can you do).

until Zantai gives us more clues my prediction for now with all the evidence provided is that we will a " Paladin mastery". We have evidence already that Paladins exist in Cairn lore and world. Shield mastery plus fire related. No adjustments to existing skills as per Zantai and no extension to existing masteries. Zantai not saying no to questions about masteries but then at the end waiting for this dev stream to reveal because of pressure from players. i would not call him a bad troll showcasing something and at the end hurting people’s feelings. Plus we have New devotions to support new mastery. The signs are there. A few more hints Zantai and we are good to go!

Something that just passed my mind and it might sound crazy.
Instead of having a new mastery with set gear etc, and all of the balancing with each mastery combo. You could have just have a few shield skills available for every class combo. However it would still require mastery and skill points. So less skills compared to a full mastery and less balancing.
Not something i thought well over but that i’ll leave to the expert’s. Basically a mini 3rd mastery.
so every mastery/combo will have shield skills? I dont think that will look nice. Intersting thought though.

So far, everything leads to a new mastery, so unless they want to piss their fanbase off and potentially risk losing sales, trolling your playerbase like this is NOT a good idea in any way.
