Hello everyone! Prior to recently, the last time i played farthest frontier was over 1.5 years ago. Over the holidays i got back into because of all the updates and 1.0 release. Just gotta say the game was phenomenal over a year ago and its even better now. The dev team is doing great with this project.
I wanted to come on here and give some ideas for future content that i think would be a nice addition.
- cargo Boats/ports/passenger ships
- raiders can arrive on shores via ships
β2 new maps(or 1) which are both archipelago themed but one incorporates some of the islands being just mountains/hills mixed with flat islands and the other version being primarily flat/hilly islands.
-snow themed map
- expand the level terrain tool so it can cover more land(maybe a tech for this one?)
- skin variants for buildings
- more roads types- brick road, asphalt (made with stone, sand, and charcoal)
- Iron palisades
- flintlock weapons, cannons, gunpowder, fireworks(luxury item)
- modular upgrades to buildings, example can build an additional room off a house that gives additional housing space at the cost of resources and an additional 3x1 area on the plot(total space from 3x3->4x3)
- police/jail
- bandit cities(bigger version of bandit camps
- extra large maps that could contain cities of neutral npcs(that can become raidable by the player- consequences are big haul of loot but disables them from trading forever

I would go even further.
I would like to see a DLC that adds the ability to explore and colonize adjacent maps.
- The technology/code already exists for how a colony grows. A new colony could just be an extension of the existing build and use the same coding/development.
- Add scouts that are special units that can explore adjacent maps.
- Add a settler wagon that operates that same as the initial colony wagon to start the new town.
- develop trading routes with new colonies. These could be subject to raids/bandits and can be protected by caravan guards. Especially useful in biomes that do not include all resource types.
- Add rivers/streams to make bridges more needed. These could also form the barrier to adjacent maps. Boats could be used to transport goods/people between colonies.
- In addition to an island biome, add a jungle biome.
In response to a few of your points;
- Modular upgrades to buildings already, in essence, exists. Many buildings, including houses, already expand to add more space or added features.
- Not sure I want gunpowder, but not really against it. How far do you go with technology? Do you add things like steam power, etc.? Perhaps a whole new DLC to include more βmodernβ things?

Love the additional suggestions! I do understand there needs to be a line drawn for how far the tech can go. Not sure where it would drawn. Electricity in the US wasnt primarily used until the late 1800s but large scale steam power(boats/trains/etc) was used during late 1700s, early 1800s sooo theres that.
