No idea if this game is always free or what, but Ultima IV is free on gog right now:
Thanks for the heads-up, jiaco! I played the heck out of Ultima III in college.
I read that it is supposed to be a limited offer so if anyone is interested you better get it fast. Size is 25mb nad only requires an account on gog.
Ha! And they have a bundle, Ultima I, II, and III, for $5.99.

Got me some GAMES this week!
Yay, created a GOG account, now I have 5 new old games Iâll never play!
I fell ya yerkyerkâŚloved these old games back in the day but thereâs so few I can stomach to play anymore due to how bad they aged.
HoweverâŚthere is one free game they offer that is more than worth your time. Tyrian 2000! This is the best vertical shooter ever made in my humble opinion as is still fun!
Yesyes, I played Tyrian2000 a couple of years back (5 or so, I think?). It was good, will enjoy it now too. I thought it was freeware btw?
EDIT: it is freeware, lol. So, thanks for nothing, GOG
It is freeware but I found the gog version works better than the other versions Iâve tried including the open source version.
All I can say was that this gog Ultima IV was weird. I think U-III might have been the last one I played as a kid but it was only on green-screen. So seeing it in color last night was quite revolting. Plus, I could not remember how to interact with the environment at all.
Modern games have made me stupid. In U-IV if you go to talk to an NPC, you actually have to have something to say. It is not as easy as the âclick-to-activate-movie-clipâ type interaction of today.
There will come a rainy day soon where I will be glad I have this installed.
Ultima IV requires you to read relatively closely and pick out keywords that you want to ask that npc, and perhaps other npcs, about. In some cases you have to talk to many people to find the proper keyword that you then need to ask someone else about to progress.
It truly was a challenging game (in my opinion) in its time, and perhaps even today compared to recent rpg releases. Most RPGs now do not require any in-depth thought, only navigating from point A to point B via waypoints that automatically appear on your map. Ultima IV has a lot of aspects that have to be uncovered as you play. Spell recipes, where/how to find ingredients, how to achieve certain virtues (i.e. not just killing everything).
Its been years since I played it in-depth on my Amiga 500, but it was one of my favorite games. Iâm sure there are tons of FAQs and videos available now for assistance, but in the mid 80s, it was a struggle to unravel. Sheets of paper with keywords written down to ask about⌠ahh memories.
Dead Island Pre-order (Normally $50) is only $34 on Green Man Gaming with coupon:
READY-UPDEA-ISLAN
At checkout.
Game Is Steamworks and it is confirmed that the Steam DLC comes with this pre-order.
Excellent was planning on getting this anyways
If anyone is new to green man gaming, if you use this link:
http://www.greenmangaming.com/?gmgr=zuhavuvu
And register for your account, once you make a $5 purchase you will get $5 store credit and so will I.
I did this when I made my wifes account to get her a Dead Island key, and now we both have $5 extra, so were saving that for the next Civ 5 DLC.
Oh, they also give you the CD key at checkout to add to Steam so you donât even have to download their client or check your email or anything.

Green man is truly awesome for Steam games, and they even give away free games every now and then through promotions with other companies who want the good publicity.
Does anyone know how GreenManGaming gets to sell you a Steam game like Dead Island cheaper than Steam?
Really feels wrongâŚbut maybe there is a legit explanation.
Maybe youâre not supposed to ask questions?
What if scary men in (green) suits invade this forum!
I think they resell the activation code of people who deactivate their keys.
Furthermore, they might do it as a stunt. Or perhaps theyâve analyzed theyâll probably make more money by redistributing tons of cheap key several times than by (re)selling a few keys for a high price and only get few resales?
Could be kinda like utilizing loss leadersâŚbasically giving deals so good they actually loose money. The point is to get tons of new customers in the process and then make money later on.
AnywaysâŚI picked it up from Greenman GamingâŚ$34 for a brand new game thatâs $50 everywhere else? Absolutely.
Green Man is in the UK, UK has no Walmart.
Or at least didnât until 2009 when Asda was sold to Walmart, but they play a very different role in the UK than Walmart does in the US. Asda is a grocery store, not a retail mall unto itself.
So basically Walmart cant bully and threaten British based Digital Distributors and those whom do business with them in the same way that they can in the US where they can effectively shut down retail sales for an entire publisher if they so choose.
Digital distribution should by all rights be at least 50% cheaper than retail if not more, but Walmart basically threw a huge temper tantrum and stated if anyone undercut their retail sales via digital sales Walmart would no longer do business with.
Walmart is the huge elephant in the room of the Games industry that no one ever talks about, and they have control over everything from Game pricing to the size of your retail boxes, to mature game content to what day games and movies are allowed to be released. (Walmart prefers Tuesday by the wayâŚ)
Forgot to buy Juarez⌠I was logged in to Paypal, forgot about it, came back from work and missed the deal
Duel of the Planeswalkers 2012 on offer today. Worth it?
Nvm about Duel of the Planeswalkers, with all the decks and whatnot, Iâd just have the feeling of having paid for a demo -.-
