Not a huge discount,
but you can get this weekend and coming week from www.gog.com :
ultima 1+2+3 / 4+5+6 / 7 part 1 and 2 / 8 / 9 / ultima underworld 1 +2
packs for 30% discount or all with a 50% discount.
ultima adventure part 1 and 2 or free to download as always
normal price is $5.99 so a 30% discount would make it $4.19 or about €3,35
or all packs for $17,97 or about €14,38
have to say part 8 and especially part 9 are apparently not very good.
part 7 complete is really good (I hope).
does not support 1920 x 1200 native resolutions it seems tough its a bit blocky.
well, its a game from 20 years ago, the time we had DOS and floppy disks.
Know that you, too, shall kneel before me, Avatar. You, too, shall soon acknowledge my authority - for I shall be your companion… your provider… and your master! <insert sinister laughter here>
9 is not good at all, however, 8 is actually a fairly good game. The issue is that it discards pretty much everything about previous games entirely (and it did have a few quirks). Taken apart from all things Ultima, 8 would have been a great title, but as an Ultima game, it had few of the things people were expecting from that kind of title.
Very interesting Indie bundle on Steam. 9.99 (euros) for:
Defcon, Eufloria, Frozen Synapse, Gratuitous Space Battles, Revenge of the Titans, and Time Gentleman Please.
I need something to replace my Defense Grid obsession so RoT looks like tower defense but GSB looks excellent, and FS too. Plus the reviews on the others are all very positive.
can’t really say much about RotT, not really what i was looking for.
GSB is hilarious. not to be confused with the conquest thing that got added on after. sadly I’m not enough a min-maxer to play against that.
There’s floaty ships with shooty guns some of which do fun stuff like paralysing targets.
and then the explosions, many many explosions followed by drifting hulks in space.
kinda a popcorn, beer and pretzels game. you spend a lot of time thinking about your ships, formation, orders and how they fit together.
plunk them down and then sit back and watch the fireworks.
the scoring system reminds me of battletech clans, you’re always trying to cut back your bid til you succeed with only the bare minimum of expenditure.
also his Gratuitous Tank Battles is pretty amusing.
I own some of those games, but haven’t played any.
As far as Tower Defense goes, there’s quite a lot of interesting games out there, these were the TD games I enjoyed most;
Dungeon Defenders for the loot&level junkies (regularly on sale for 75% off). Multiplayer (up to 6? players, most levels are for 4 players though).
Orcs Must Die! (2) for those who like a lot of polish and fast-paced action (sometimes on sale for 75% off). 2 player coop in OMD2.
Plants vs Zombies (rarely on sale), it’s an instant classic and offers an unmissable TD experience for those who can see past its fluffy exterior. Single player.
Its funny, google leads me to thread like : “What’s a good TD game like Defense Grid” and besides PvZ and Sol Survivor, people mainly say “Your an idiot, there are 1000s of TD games” but I cannot find anything that looks like what I want.
Orcs and Dungeon Defenders: I played the demos and they did not appeal to me. Sanctum goes in this list of TD games but you are in the game and not in god-mode.
After that, Tower Wars looks awesome, but apparently solo-play is very lacking and TD is a genre I like to play by myself.
The other suggestions I have found are mods for Warcraft. But I do not even own that it looks like I would have to order it from amazon or something.
So I am looking at the Revenge of the Titans thing, and the bundle is the same price as the single game. But, yeah, I bet I will never play them.
Anomaly War Zone Earth is another game I already own, but could not get into.
Anyway, if this spawns a bunch of TD posts (and I hope it does), I will move them into a new thread, so post away!
For any UK-ers on, there’s quite a nice deal going on at game.
Red Faction Armageddon + Warhammer 40K Space Marine + Saints Row 3 for only £8.99!
Granted not brilliant games, but still I think those three are definitely worth £3 per game. I just got mine, and activated all the games on Steam since it had it was a physical copy of the games that was delivered.
EDIT: Apparently because my post count is not 3 or more I am unable to post links. In which case, just check out HotUKDeals I believe that where I first saw it.
Did anybody have a chance to get the BL 2 Season pass on Steam for half the value ? There was a bug which caused the pass to be 50% off for a short amount of time.
Word on the street… from Cheap Ass Gamer, is Green Man Gaming will be running a 25% off any item coupon code from 9/2 through 9/4. In theory, with this code I should be able to pickup Borderlands 2 with the premiere club for $37.50.
Both Trine games as well as all Crysis games are 75% off on Steam this weekend. I’ve been meaning to get Trine 2 for a while now but have been waiting for the Linux version to drop. Well the Linux version is here, but I wonder if I get in on Steam will that mean I will be able to play it on Linux without having to purchase it again once the Steam Linux client drops? I think they did that with games when the Steam Mac client came out.
Interesting indie bundle going on at gamersgate…you pick and choose from 20 or so games and design your own bundle. You make packs with 3, 6, or 9 games and the price is pretty nice too.
I’m thinking of doing a bronze pack with Tiny & Big: Grandpa’s Leftovers (because who doesn’t want to cut stuff with a giant laser?), Devil Whiskey (because it looks like a super old-school RPG, I’m talking Bard’s Tale old-school), and Dark Scavenger (because I’ve heard that it’s completely insane in a good way). The good thing is that there is still about 20 days left on the offer so I have tons of time to decide.
Yeah all 3 of those interested me as well…was also considering grabbing Air-buccaneers, Demise, and the metroid-vania 2D game too. Like you said though, plenty of time to pull the trigger
If I didn’t own most of the titles already, I’d dig around some more on it. But as it stands, I have more than I need from that bundle offering already
