GD Hc players are the most stubborn ever

Where the heck did you find that :D:D:D:D

saves

BOY DO I WISH GD HAD THIS

Sounds almost as fun as…

But always-online is like ~The Future of Gaming~, guys!

Like others have said I enjoy PoE, but do everything SSF. I really wish there was the option to buy a $15-30 version of the game that was offline exclusively with more stash tabs and better drop rates. GGG could keep up all the cosmetic microtransaction windows if they wanted too.

hahaha and they said they got extra servers to be ready for launch.

They say it every league launch, lol . Nah, dont even want to try new awesome content https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2eFEalqgY0 >_>

the whole server resetting is just annoying. lvl8 at the moment and i just can’t get into it because of that. you can’t build up a nice gaming flow that way. plus the game is A LOT easier then i remember. In the psat you actually had to make sure to have resistances at some point, that you used your passives and move around opponents like hailrake. Now you just stand there and face tank everything barely losing any health. Even GD Veteran is more challenging compared to PoE’s current low lvl content.

Not planning to waste more time on it then today. so will see how things go and how far i get i guess.

Woohoo!! That fits my definition of fun

It takes like 3-5 minutes to get in which isn’t that bad really.

Many other games have much worst queue’s at launch.

At Gibly POE was never hard in low level content.

Pre-nerfed low content was quite hard (got worked on several leagues ago, when they reworked the zones as well, along with the global 1.0 difficulty nerf back in the days).
But even now starting fresh with no gear, it’s harder to progress at early levels than in GD, mostly because of the abysmal drop rates and partially the poor balance, while in GD progression is much smoother and easier (also a difficulty slider).
Ofc it’s different with twink gear in permanent leagues.

On a side note, I’m greatly disappointed with the new content and league.
A whole bunch of tech issues they knew in advance but left untouched, extremely poor balance (especially some story line bosses) but also gutted skills and mechanics, impressively pointless league serving the only purpose to make you eventually buy an additional stash tab.

Buy certain story line boss kills and skip all bosses in maps is the new meta.
Game’s getting more and more HC unfriendly. Kitava fight requres of you more HP than people usually have in low red maps. GL if playing SSF or don’t actively trade.

Obviously turning this game into crap is a process. Gonna bitch around in vanilla HC for a while, hopefully the GD expansion comes sooner.

it might’ve changed the past year or so. but before that early content kept you on your toes just enough instead of just waltzing through like nothing is even there. I do have a char now in SSF leageau so no twinked stuff whatsoever around lvl40 and I just can’t be bothered. It is such a boring drag

I have enjoyed both GD and POE for some years now, and although I also feel that gear progression and the almost inevitable trading suck, there are also things that make POE stand out for me.
I am particularly refering to the build diversity possible in the leveling game.
An example: I can build a a character relying on skills that proc on hit, block or ailment. I can then also use support gems that make skills proc that normally need to be casted. The result is a build that is for the most part auto-casting, no special gear needed or required. These kind of mechanics are somethi g I feel GD lacks. Also, the removal of two difficulties and thus removal of grinding them is a brilliant and needed move for the genre. Eventually GD will accomplish this as well, as long as we massively buy their expansions and DLC, not before!
Money is as much a motivation to Crate as it is for GGG.
In all other aspects GD is my game of choice.

So this is what happened with the people I mentioned in the first post.

Ceno was in the queue
Dikiedik shared a clip of CohhCarnage playing PoE
Dromihetes and ninetrix are playing PoE

finally some recognition

Funny to watch how players speak about balance in PoE on Grim Dawn forum. Grim Dawn is awful in terms of balance. Game has a lot of OP skills which is must have if you want to make decent build. Game has totally broken core mechanics. A lot of affixes are total garbage. Game has crazy amount of flaws. The only reason why balance issues do not concern you is abcense of competion.
A lot of players cheat or dupe items to test their builds.
GD have better graphics but absent atmosphere.

So, I can continue but obviously the only difference between this games that GD is single player game (maybe best singleplayer ARPG) while PoE is competitive online game.
All other things does not matter to be honest. I hate skill system in PoE but I hate a lot of things in GD too.

not sure what you mean with this?

IMO “awful” is an exaggeration. Both games have their flaws, and balance is far from perfect.

What makes me like GD more in this aspect, is that no matter how good or bad Crate succeds in balancing the game, their intentions are mostly for good. I mean, at least they try, even when they fuck up. Once again - not that they always succeed. But there’s a will.

The approach of GGG isn’t motivated by the sheer desire just to balance the game, but exactly the opposite - parts of it are intentionally disbalanced. There is forced meta and FOTM skills/mechanics, specially created to attract as more players as possible for a certain period of time. Followed by meta shifts and annihilation of mechanics, gear, and skills, respectively builds.
They intentionally destroy players’ builds so they can roll the hamster wheel to infinity, having their previous progress and achievements deleted, or made obsolete. The worst they can dream of, is to have a character you’d like to play for long, or forever.

Balance? What balance, they need to draw player’s atention, as a person is mostly willing to buy something at the beginning of a new event - while hyped. Roughly speaking, the first couple of weeks in a league.
It’s the F2P model and it’s unforgiving. This kind of balancing is typical to it, it’s not only PoE.

On a related note, PoE developers are urged to create, implement, and deal with disposable content. Once again, the business model.
Believe me or not, game’s cluttered with so much shit, and taking into account how skills, items and mechanics are dependent on each other, and interact with each other, that it’s absolutely impossible to get this game properly balanced.
They know it and don’t even try too hard.

On top of it, PoE balance team isn’t the best one, in addition.

I typically use to cringe when someone’s speaking about balance in PoE.

Anyway, to each his own. Both games have issues, and it’s about personal preferences.
But PoE better balanced? Hell no.

people talking about balance… don’t understand that the most fun games are unbalanced. Balance everything is boring. Making everything viable is not boring. Making everything viable and “balanced” is impossible

Believe me or not, game’s cluttered with so much shit, and taking into account how skills, items and mechanics are dependent on each other, and interact with each other, that it’s absolutely impossible to get this game properly balanced.

I know that it’s hard to make game properly balanced for competion gameplay. Games like dota2 are in the mode of permament rebalance.
But this does not matter for single player game. For solo gameplay you need only viability of each build. But even if you do not want you have to take some skills. For example there are no point to avoid Pneumatic Burst. I tried to make build without it and result was always the same. It’s better to take it. It’s just TOO good. It’s obviously should be nerfed. But this will not happen.
Or primal strike. It’s still piece of shit. Problem with absent aoe when you miss main target is not fixed. I remember that I asked to fix stun jacks more than a year until medierra had seen my post.
It’s the reason why I stopped to play Grim Dawn. I did not see variability in this game.
There are a lot of such problems. Obvious problems. Which SHOULD BE fixed but never be. Of course there are an excuse. “We are small team, blah, blah, blah” (in fact my bug report was intentionally ignored but this does not matter right now).
But POE team have excuses too.
At least PoE have not useless stats right grim dawn. It isn’t overswarmed by damage types. It has not stupid constellation system. A lot of things are made just better in PoE. Just because team is bigger. They spent more time to polish their game. They had not burden like old engine. etc etc. If somebody asks me for best diablo clone on the market then I will point to PoE.
Most problems of PoE starts near end-game. While problems of Grim Dawn are seen right from the start.

Yeah, instead it has its stupid passive tree which is basically the same thing but with fucktons of +10 stat nodes.
