Grim Dawn, is it worth?

Hello, I havent actually played this game yet ( matter of fact I havent bought it, no money xD ), I’m just here to ask some questions about the game. I loved like loved Diablo 2 with a passion, it was practically my favorite childhood game. I liked the dark, creepy, fun yet challenging feeling about it. I also thoroughly enjoyed the variation in class creation and one of my favorite parts was the exploration. Is Grim Dawn like this? How well is the story? For my last question, is it worth $25?

Definitely, Grim Dawn is one of the best arpg currently, dark, gore, the music is just perfect and so on… Also Necromancer Expanson is coming along other goodies.

A must have game for the genre fans.

Another question I had was, will I be able to run at max settings and have 60 fps. I’ve got a gtx 970 and an amd fx-8350, 16 gigs of ram and I currently run at 1920x1080. Also how is the sense of exploration in this game? I really hope its not like diablo 3 where you’re practically forced to go down one path…

This game is like Diablo 2 on steroids! Many say it is what D3 should have been…Are you prepared for lots of sleepless nights? The name of this game explicitly tells you that you will be hacking monsters till dawn! This game will literally sap the living life out of you! So do yourself a favor and dont buy this game!

Your spec will run fine, but I don’t think 60 FPS really matters that much, 40-50 is good enough.

Grim Dawn world is big enough, but you are generally going down one path, because you need to kill that end game boss. Some locations are random anyway so you next play will not be the same as previous one.

IMO this is not the place to ask this question. Everyone on these forums loves this game, some fanatically. But you know you are going to buy it anyways :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I would certainly recommend buying Grim Dawn, it’s really a great game. If money is a bit of a issue for you, than you could wait for it to be on sale.

If you enjoyed diablo 2 then generally i would say you would enjoy/get your value and then some. However if you enjoyed diablo 2 because of closed servers then maybe not as this is mostly a single player experience unless you get a bunch of friends to buy and play with. The game itself is great but do your due diligence and make sure you are buying a game you will enjoy if money is tight for you.

You will have a hard time getting an unbiased answer on this forum. That being said, if you loved D2 so much, chances are you will love this game very much as well.

Well, I dare say the world of Cairn is much much bigger than D3.
Sure, there is a main story line, and in the end, you kill the big bad boss and that main story line is done.

However, exploring the world in encouraged, you can find extra loot chests, hidden areas and so on, plus there is lore is to be discovered (lore notes are scattered in remote places, npcs tell their stories etc.), if you are into that kind of thing. There is NO need to rush through the main story line. You can take your time and just play, hack, slay, explore, have fun.
(Also there is extra content in Elite and Ultimate difficulty.)

Just remember, as mentioned by pedlttmedl4u2, it is basically a single play experience.

This game is difinitely exquisite. I enjoyed this game to a climax but now im bored due to playing with some multplayer players using cheats like GD defiler, if you like to max all stats and etc use it. It’s here in the forum. Thus making me think POE is better. This game is only good for a month or two. After then you will think to play CS GO or Dota. Haha

No haters please im just sharing my idea.:smiley:

Trying hard not hate, but I do not see any ideas here.

Most games get boring after you cheat. This is not specific to GrimDawn. The flip side is that if you do not cheat, you get to play user provided mods in addition to the main game, vastly enhancing the game’s longevity.

I think the thread title was about the GD if its worth it. We have different opinions and yes you are right if you cheat it will make the game less enticing. But nevertheless the TS ask about the “worth” so it means he is asking about the pros and cons of the game. If your a fanboy then i aplogize.

well if you like to play an ARPG mainly solo and occasionally with friends (through a host/join option, no online/server support)

this game will be for you, it has plenty of content and lots of builds to try out

a lot of gear to find and secrets to discover, you should also try to get to the hardest difficulty just to see if you are up for it. And with the upcoming expansion, you can even try out more builds and combine them with devotions which makes build diversity huge in this game.

so in short: if you like farming, creating new build ideas, searching for secrets and getting to the highest difficulty this is a game for you.

and like i said before, you can play this with other players but i would prefer friends so you know if it is legit etc

I see what you say with it will only be fun for a month or 2 but to me that is not true

Grim Dawn at its core is a single player game, so if you want an “always online” centric game you better search somewhere else.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I do think I would enjoy this game very much, so I do plan on buying it. See you guys on the forums :stuck_out_tongue:

I would NOT compare this game to Diablo, instead it’s closer to TITAN QUEST. If you like titan quest, you will probably like grim dawn. If you hated titan quest…

Actually this game is very much comparable to DII, i’ve never played TQ. But I can definitely see some D2 influences here and there

It is the spiritual successor of Diablo II in terms of atmosphere, music, lore. Sure the dual class thing makes it different, but the rest of it is pretty much Diablo like. Dark atmosphere, despair everywhere and awesome lore scattered here and there
In Diablo you could gossip with NPCs for lore, here you collect lore notes

I would say D2 meets Titan Quest and had a baby!

Pretty much how I view it as well. The overall atmosphere and music lends to it alot plus it gets the awesomeness of the TQ mastery system.

Win/win from where I sit.
