1 - Until Warden
2 - Starts on Homestead
3 - Starts on Fort Ikon
4 - Till the end
Here’s what I posted in another thread about “acts” in GD.
Exactly. It’s not meant to be a buff, for the same reason Blood of Dreeg isn’t.
FWIW, This is my view on the acts.
Act 1 - Kill Warden.
Act 2 - Kill Crowley
Act 3 - Kill Karraz
Act 4 - Clear Ft. Ikon riftgate.
Act 5 - Kill Log.
Nice to see a release window announced. Looks like it might be prudent to wait a week or so for
the rush die down before getting it.
4 acts currently.
Like you said, taking down the Warden means you cleared act 1.
Act 2 ends the moment you have talked to Ulgrim in Deadman’s Gulch, which you accepted the quest to open up the riftgate in Homestead. Interpretation or not, Cronley is a major boss in the middle of an act, though some will be picky, so Broken Hills and Smuggler’s Pass are like act 2.5.
Act 3 ends with Karroz slained.
Act 4 ends with Log slained.
trailer now got almost 40k views … hype is real
Correct. It isn’t an interpretation, it’s how devs called it during EA. I wouldn’t say it’s official though, and other interpretations are welcome, but if there’s a canon version it’s that one
So Ceno (thanks!) posted in another thread and in response to my post (which I had reposted in this thread), listing out the official Act demarkations - at least after Act 2. But it’s always interesting to see where others see the Acts finishing and starting.
The current Acts are:
Act 1. Everything north of Devil’s Crossing (The Warden being considered the end of act boss.
Act 2. Speaking to Mornay activates act 2. Cronley is a mid-act boss. The end of Act two is harder to define but its most likely to be when you enter Mountain Deeps.
Act 3. From Mountain Deeps until kill Karroz, Sigil of Ch’ton
Act 4. Begins at the Asterkarn Valley and includes everything else, Fort Ikon, The Necropolis and the destruction of The Loghorrean
Looks brilliant and I’m excited to be sucked back into the game again for another 2k hours. Thanks GD team!
AFAIK, the Smuggler’s Pass was a final area of Act 2. In old game builds (B17 or something like that) there was a little cave (yeah, in those days Smuggler’s Pass was smaller than now) with a big troll living in the end and John Bourbon’s Clone in front of avalanche.
Also in this thread: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18214 we can read that first area of Act 3 Chapter 1 is “beyond Voldrak’s lair in Smuggler’s Pass”.
Great that confirm my saying that the Troll is actually the Act 2 end boss (not Darius like some says!).
Warden - Troll - Karroz - Log - ??? - ??? (is it really 2 new act or more like 2 half act)
What I mean is Act 2 is basicly 2 half act (first half end at Cronley (ending the bandit) 2nd half end at Smuggler Pass after all the Undead)
Just want to know if ULGRIM is alive…thats why ill buy the expansion
my opinion of the split between the acts:
Act 1: Ends when you kill the Warden
Act 2: Ends when you leave the Barren Highlands (geography is why, you’re in Arkovia for all of Act 2 but once you enter the mountain passes / mines / tunnels / caves leading to Homestead you’re not in Arkovia anymore)
Act 3: Ends when you kill Karroz (again, geography, everything up to passing through the Darkvale Gate is geographically linked to Homestead, then once you pass through the Gate you’re in the mountains and Fort Ikon and the Necropolis seem to be on a plateau in the mountains)
Act 4: Ends when you kill the Loghorrean
I have to say that the music from the trailer is incredibly great! Put more of its kind in the game! The art of the new items is also very masterful.
I don’t know if i can wait more than 2 weeks without negative effects on my mental health
That Rylok at the end was awesome
Looking forward to the expansion
I heard that Loyalist edition owners will be eligible for a free copy of Ashes of Malmouth through this website: http://wccftech.com/grim-dawn-ashes-of-malmouth-expansion/
I have the Loyalist edition which I bought back in May 2013 through Humble Bundle store. (for use with Steam then subsequently redeemed with GOG for my DRM copy)
Question: am I a candidate for the free version or do I have to pay the $17.99 fee?
Truth be told, it’s not the fact that I want it for free… I would gladly pay the $17.99. I just wanted to know if this was true or not.
Yes, you are eligible.
It will be distributed via your Humble page when it is released.
