Grim Misadventure #64: A Window into the Faction World

Humina Humina Humina!

What an update! Please tell me the nemesis are badder baddies than current champion monsters we find! Please tell me some loot is nemesis only! Please Zantai, PLEASE!

Devotion, if it actually existed, would not be ready for the spotlight quite yet. But we have Devoted men on the job, so who knows.

Who could it be?!

Let’s just say that reaching Nemesis is asking for trouble.

Now I just have to do so

Would we reach that level through a regular play-through or does that require some more dedication (not devotion  ) ?

in my experience some more dedication

will there be a reputation reset before this new system is implemented, or can we safely grind rep in preparation?

They’ve not reset anything since the game has been in Early Access. They do give warning if a change will impact a skill, or if a skill is going away so you can buy back the points.

In short, no.

Damn son!.. They’re so Devoted on working on it that they can’t even have the time to tell us about it! Now that’s what I call a really Devoted team :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s great to see the faction getting improved and it’s looking great.

Should “Chthonians” have an apostrophe (’) between the h and the t, " Ch’thonians"?

LOL…I’d actually like to see this happen where a player could be on the bad side instead of the good side.

I don’t think there’s game that I can recall if a player could choose to be the bad guy rather than the good guy. IN fact I’d love to see a MMO where the good play the bad, choose to be evil or good. Have quest lines for both playing the good guy or the bad guy.

What will happen if we unlock the Nemesis reputation level and the new enemies sent to dispatch us are way too powerful for us to handle? Will player have a choice in unlocking the final reputation tier? Will we lose reputation level if we die often from these new threats?

I vaguely remember that Zantai, or was it Medierra, or perhaps Rhis… was saying something about the new feature being in the works that so far nobody knows nothing about. Since we know for several months now that Devotion is actually Zantai’s way to mess with our heads, can someone from the dev team step in and say, is there a new feature in the works, hidden from our plain sight? A simple Yes or No will suffice

Medierra said a long time ago in a thread started by Raven I think (btw where’s Raven? hope he’s doing fine) that was about shrines and renovating them and power ups and such, that he was thinking about a system that would tie all these together. Now, I’ve been searching for this thread since the D-word has dropped, but alas, cannot find it.

Rhis, polite as always, evaded the issue of Devotion asked by FOE here, saying it’s top secret stuff that will revealed when the world is ready for it.

Zantai dropped the bounty board project and now is Lead Commissioner of Obfuscation for Devotion.:frowning:

We, on the other hand, are sitting tight.

Disappointing. I was hoping that the Faction system would’ve been an actual Faction system where I can betray the humans and buddy up with the aliens, but I guess not.

I’m not sure why you thought that, the devs have been very clear that you are fighting for the Human race, not against it.

Aliens??? Not only you missed the whole concept of the Faction System, but also about the game lore itself.

Well, the Aetherials and Chthonians are from other universes/planes, so alien would be correct.

Aetherials are Aliens. Chthonic are…well…the stuff of nightmares. :V

A fair question, but I don’t think you’ll just stumble upon Nemesis tier in the middle of gameplay; it’ll likely be a solid investment of time, at which point you’ll probably be pretty geared. I’m barely into the Nemesis tier with the Undead, and that’s after loads of SoT runs. With the current system, I think you’re looking at about 25000 kills per faction (Nemesis seems to cap at 24000, and the previous tier required 18000 to reach Nemesis, plus whatever came beforehand) to reach Nemesis, and I imagine this number might go up with the Faction Overhaul.

What I’d like to know is whether reputation will be restricted on a difficulty-by-difficulty basis, i.e., say I pick the Black Legion in Normal difficulty and proceed to make enemies with Kymon’s Chosen; could I then pick Kymon’s Chosen in Epic and make enemies with the Black Legion?

Then you run away like a chicken and do not revisit those areas

Given that you have to farm their areas to reach that reputation, you are not under-leveled or under-geared and most likely have completed the game, so do not have to go to a specific area to complete it.

Also, I assume you can avoid those guys rather than face them, just like you can with heroes now, if you really wanted / needed to.

I think this is the video where Rhis says they have things in the works that they havent hinted at yet. Cant give an exact timestamp as twitch is playing up for me right now. http://www.twitch.tv/crate_rhis/b/615524044
