I think the point is that the increase in difficulty

will be part of the game/story progression. By the time we reach Sorrow’s Embrace, which I assume to be the main Aetherial citadel, we’ll likely be seeing some very powerful enemies, as we should be.
I’m always a little leery of the utility of faction systems when a game has very obviously defined friend/foe roles. So it’s good that some sort of choice is being put in the game that actually provides a meaningful choice.
That is the way it works for gaining reputation, except that weaker enemies will become obsolete at higher reputation tiers, so you will have to focus on heroes and bosses to reach Revered. Negative reputation will likely remain at -1 per kill, but all mob types will be eligible for reaching Nemesis.
I assume that, as far as reaching Revered goes, the “value”–if you will–of heroes and bosses won’t scale down to the point in which we need to slay some exorbitant amount of bosses (i.e., 200k) to reach the next reputation tier…or…will it?
tbh I’ve never experimented with positive reputation values, I’ve only noticed the negative ones.
The values will not decay. A boss will be worth just as much at Tolerated as at Honored. The time required to reach max reputation will be a significant investment, though given how efficient some of you are at farming the game, perhaps not quite that involved.
Great news! More reputation depth is very welcome. Also looking forward to seeing what the new Vendors will have for sale…and discounts. Who doesn’t love discounts!?

Will we have some way to know when it is some special foe sent particularly to get us? Instead of coming up on some extra-hard monster and his minions and seeing them as just the monsters that happened to be there it would be cool to know they were there because they were hunting me down specifically. I think it would be more immersive and satisfying to add little details like that which you guys have already done a really good job with.
