Grim Misadventure #83: Your Devoted Questions Answered

Nice update. Curious to see all the different stats/secondary effects we’ll be able to use.

Should be fun.

How? Don’t you understand that it would make totems-based builds almost useless? I do cast a totem skill myself. And I rely on it heavily actually it is my primary way of dealing damage and now you say I can’t use Devotion system at all? Nice
Don’t get me wrong I’m very happy with the Devotion system itself - the graphics and design are awesome!

Another question : will those devotion skills benefit from % elemental damage modifiers on gear?

I hope this damaging procs have cooldown.

Open eyes… Look closer. Some have cool downs.

Yes, I think they do understand. It’s not a design choice, it’s a limitation of the skill system itself. I’m sure they want to, but it’s not a quick and easy change (else they would have done it).

That’s what I was thinking as well. Zantai basically spelled out the reasoning in his reply. I don’t think some people understand that the engine has limitations that aren’t easily overcome and it isn’t always a case of “magic presto there you go”. If he says it is something they are looking into then that usually means there’s a roadblock currently preventing it from working that way.

Great looking update! The passive bonuses have me more intrigued than the secondary effects. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also:

AAR just got even more broken. Needs a cooldown. Even 1 second would do, in my opinion.

It didn’t. Not a valid skill for AAR

Oh. Hm. I had interpreted that to show skills in Red that had already had Secondary Effects placed on them.

If that isn’t the case, I’m a lot less hyped for Devotion than I was before. Concept of “valid skills” is as annoying as the whole “LMB skills” paradigm. So much for build possibilities. :undecided:

Well which is it… Concerned that the skill was going to be broken or dismayed that now it wont be?

The third option is that it shows all viable skills in your masteries (as Zantais text implies), but the character doesn’t have any points in the red skills.

Dismayed that we’re re-entering territory in which the powers that be decide what we can and cannot do with character customization. Its the whole “weapon requirement” thing all over again for me.

In the instance of Aetherfire, obviously it could be abused with certain skills (AAR). The trick for balancing it would be to lessen the abuse for spammable skills while leaving it unaffected with skills that can’t be spammed. Thus a 1-1.5 second cooldown would make it viable.

Guess we’ll see what we see. I don’t feel as heavily as you do tho about whether there are some limitations in place or not. I feel there should be more than not. Everything else is what modding is for, as it should be.

I feel like the duration should actually be the cooldown.

My assumption as well. I will be truly happy to see this game complete & hope that on release, much hype will be generated. Crate deserves much more attention (and money). This game will be a breath of fresh air while at the same time setting a new standard for ARPG’s. Crate has done an amazing job at packing as much content into an ARPG, i assume it will be the only ARPG with any real longevity through a variety if interesting content, unlike the Diablo series for example, then of course you have mods as well.

-But hey, Crate isn’t there yet. I will hold my breath until release.

Wait, what? Which is it?

Now that I see the numbers and text I am a bit disappointed. I must admit I expected more, more like Path of Exile support gems or at least Diablo 3 runes.
What we get is too indie and simple

Odd thing to say about baseline beginning numbers that you’re looking at which level up over time. Odd thing indeed.

Your “too indie, too simple” comment makes no sense here either, for someone who hasn’t used the system yet.

huh? What a troll post lol…

There’s nothing simple about it ROFL… unlike what you mentioned about those previous games which suck.

WOW I am getting excited! I’ve owned the game for 4 weeks now but by the way the community and dev’s are working together I am seeing #1 ARPG of all time form before my eyes! Keep up the great work!
