Grim Misadventure #83: Your Devoted Questions Answered

The full-sized image is 4600x4500, crop out the part you like.

Thanks for the support. We appreciate it.

Our scheduled development updates are always these sort of posts, never a build. At times we may include a build release estimate within one of these updates though, such as the November release of B28 in today’s.

We are on track for content complete this year.

The effects cannot currently be placed on skills not cast by the player, but it’s something we’ll be investigating further.

For variety. We liked the way the busts turned out.

Effects can only be assigned to activated abilities, not proc effects. That’d be some sort of…procception.

  1. What is it indeed?

  2. It would not earn experience as the skill would not be active.

Looks awesome! Also thanks for showing the complete Devotion window… that will make a badass wallpaper!

Also, I really hope that there are some really cool lightning oriented Devotion skills there.

Also, any other TQ fans here that have noticed this?

Wow, this gets better and better Would this mean 2 builds in a very short time span(B28 in November, B29/content complete in December)? And if so, can we hope for even more content than devotion in B28? Because otherwise B29 would be huge with act 4 and legendaries and maybe even higher difficulties, so I“m curious how the plans are in terms of splitting all that stuff between the (assumed) 2 upcoming builds.

Just my guess but they have been working on B28 hard for awhile now, I’m inclined to think that Act 4 and Devotion will both be in it at a minimum.

I don’t think I need to say this has me excited. But I will anyway. This has me excited!

Still had some questions:

What is the maximum level for Secondary Effects?

Are affinities purely additive or will they reduce ā€œopposingā€ affinities?

Is the experience gained by a Secondary Effect assigned to 2 skills combined into the same experience bar or are they somehow separated based on the skills to which they are assigned?

I need answers! Throws stacks of papers and folders off of desk :stuck_out_tongue:

this devotions stuff is absolutely bonkers. completely and utterly bonkers in the best way possible.

and please tell me at some point you are including the monster thingy with antlers next to the hydra (middle right left…) as an enemy in the game.

let’s put it like that: i would never ever have my chars stored server-side but you bet i would support that kickstarter.

That pesky zantai waited for me to log off before posting the update… -.-

Can’t wait for B28 now!

The maximum level depends on which Celestial Power it is. Generally, the ones you earn access to earlier have more levels.

There are no Constellations that penalize your Affinity values, at least currently.

Celestial Powers can only be assigned to one skill at a time. Likewise, a skill may only have one Celestial Power assigned to it at a time. Assigning another overwrites the first.

The Wendigo? Perhaps in the future…Wendigo spirits are not something to be trifled with.

That would be soooo awesome!!!1

A question: do you need to unlock each star of a constellation following a predetermined order or you can unlock them randomly until you unlock them all?

I see there are constellations that don’t have an obvious path, like the spider, so I’m wondering.

And with the release of B28, we get Toko exit of devotion, or anything else, that is, act 4, dungeon is a roguelike, and the remaining difficulties???

IIRC, there is no path. You can either unlock a constellation or you can’t.
Some constellations require Affinity points, which are gained when you complete a constellation.

So you complete a constellation that doesn’t have any Affinity point requirements in order to gain Afinity points. Then, based on the type and amount of Affinity you have will determine which Constellations you will be able to access.

I’m not talking about the constellations, but the single stars inside of them.

Since they each give a little passive power, I’m wondering if I can choose which one to unlock first or if I need to unlock them in a certain order.

so that’s the grim dawn wendigo. very cool monster in the rotten, distorted abomination-style way. props to the artist(s).

edit: on that note, can we get an abomination wallpaper? i’ve seen screens of it around, was it on your pax booth? maybe wallpapers for all the wicked boss monsters?

Looking really cool !!! Call me excited … still …

I do hope that B28 will contain more than only Devotion. Act 4 hopefully?

O yes, and November … that could be really soon (less than a week) or still more than 4 weeks … quite the gap …

I really have to draw more people in our guild to GD for sure. They don’t know what they are missing !!!

Man, what a amazing amount of customization, already know i’m going with aetherfire with my PPR build. Hands down…absolutely amazing job guys

So while we got news of Devotion is b28 in November, content complete by december. Fairly quicky updates back-2-back but i seriously hope we get a4 to chew on with this Devo.

the time between builds is more variable than that

We still have seen some news about devotion, act4, legendary last week. And here there is again a news about devotion. End of year is near, we have seen many news about content. No one said that build 28 come today but we could hope about it.

not realistically, we usually find out when a build goes into internal testing and it then usually takes another two weeks before it is rolled out.

As B28 is not yet in internal testing, there was no way it would be released today, 2nd half of November sounds realistic

Based on Zantai’s sentence in the OP,

There is no requirement for which one you unlock first.

I definitely expect part if not all of act 4 as I expect that the guys working on devotion are not the ones working on the acts, so work was done there in parallel
