Grimtools update: theorycrafting thread

It’s worth noting in that build you linked that 2 of his poison applying abilities (Dreeg’s Infinite Gaze/Dreeg’s Afflicted Spinses) are both granted by items. He uses one main poison applier from both masteries being Shadow Strike and Dreeg’s Evil Eye. No reason Ravenous Earth can’t replace one of those two in a similar fashion.

Early to say if Necro is limited or not. He might have some sick synergies with new sets. Or there might be a couple of skills granted by new items that can blow other builds out of the water.

Thank you for updating!

I have a question about the Harverster of Death transmuter. What does ‘total damage modified by 20%’ mean? Is it increased or decreased? ‘Modified’ is a bit vague. Also, if damage is increased is it for this skill only or for total damage of a player?
‘30% weapon damage’ - is it addition to the base skill % weapon damage or does it replace the base skill % weapon damage?
Again I want to point out how the descriptions can be made not clear enough. They should be reworded to be more understandable, imo

This is a very rough estimate on what my build wil be: http://www.grimtools.com/calc/0V0EqXZm

Increased. Decreased says “-20%”. Skill only, total damage of a player on the auras only.
Addition. Lessening is “-30% weapon damage”. Its enough understandable.

since i can’t for the life of me decide how to distribute points for a cabalist and i don’t wanna go for dual-wielding pistol cheese just yet most likely i’ll try to go for sword’n’board + aoe damage auras: http://www.grimtools.com/calc/JVlAwoZO
no idea about devotion/gear ofc…

edit: or maybe shaman + necro 2h-melee for all the vitality damage and damage to health conversion: http://www.grimtools.com/calc/RZRv1rZD

So if '-30% weapon damage ’ is decreasing and ‘30% weapon damage’ is addition then what wording it would be for replacing  just interesting. The system of tags and descriptions of skills needs an overhaul. To make it more clear, consistent and unambiguous.

I had an idea for a Gunslinger Vindicator.

The extra 5 devotion points would finish Ultos, and the 20 skill points would max Storm Totem/Heart of the Wild and some more points in Wendigo for sustain.

Lots of RR between Arcane Bomb, Elemental Storm, Viper, and Hand of Ultos. Debating if Aura of Censure would be better than Stormcaller’s Pact. I guess it would depend if the gear was more elemental based or more pure lightning based.

Would also like to try out Inquistor’s Seal if a more elemental based route is taken.s

There is no replacing, only decreasing or addition. You make problem from nothing

Looking around grim tools calculator on Flames of Ignaffer build and it seems that none of the old devotion procs can be attached to it. Is this a mistake on your part or did crate really make it this way.

Ultos, Rattosh, Attak Seru & Alladrah’s Phoenix seem to be only ones able to attach which is a real fucking shame if that is how they made it. As none of those constellations are appealing for the chaos/vitality version.

Seems like a bug. The GDX grimtools can attach most things you’d expect to FoI.

Thanks Ceno

Viper and Hand of Ultos won’t stack, just saying

Old devotions’ stats weren’t updated intentionally, but this led to its allowed skill templates not accounting for templates of new skills. This should be fixed now.

It´s updated with 55 devotion points, 105 atribute and 244 skill points.

Well, this is probably my first expansion char.
A pure pet Ritualist.
No equipment cause it doesnt matter for now, only skills and devotions

I noticed that the MIs have a slight green tint on the item description tooltip. I really hope this is a new game feature that found its way to GrimTools! That would be just… amazing. Has this been discussed anywhere or can any testers/Dammitt confirm anything about this?

Edit: Nevermind, it seems to be a Grimtools feature added recently, not necessarily slated for the game itself

This will probably be what I will be going for.

Hm. So what’s the moneyshot for a Vitality caster here?

Occultist/Shaman

  1. Massive vitality resist shred via Devour/Curse.
  2. Three good vitality damage skills (Sigil, Doombolt, Totem /w Transmuter)
  3. Good tankiness buffs (Wendingo Totem, Blood of Dreeg, Pact of Mordrogen).

Occultist

  1. Curse of Frailty
  2. Sigil/Doombolt
  3. Possession
  4. Blood of Dreeg

    Shaman
  5. Devouring Swarm
  6. Pact of Mordrogen
  7. Healy Totem
  8. Zappy Totem.

Necromancer.

  1. Primary vitality attack.
  2. Something resembling a self-centered Sigil of Consumption nuke.
  3. Retaliation based resistance shred (eeeh?)
  4. Ravenous earth for a -flat resist and damage reduction on enemies.

I might be a little overaddicted to resist shredding, though. Perhaps having a no downtime nuke on top of another decent Sigil style nuke is enough to counteract loss of reliable resist shred from either Shaman or Occultist.

Managed to fit in Will of Ratosh, Hungering Void, and Time dilation.

Aiming for a hybrid Pet/Damage, Necromancer/Occultist with time dilation to get multiple uses (and wraiths) from Reap spirit, Syphon Souls and keep maximum uptime on Call of the Grave.

Edit : Actually go with this slight tweak, carrying scholars light basically for the affinity but lets the last node of Dying God get picked for the pet bonus.
