Grocers need adjustments

ouff only 5 pics are allowed to drop in here. anyway, grocers need some adjustment.

127 houses, 6 markets, 24 grocers.
my grocers can’t keep up on delivering! I have watch my grocers activities quite a long time, they are busy delivering 5 water per house most of the time. busy going after raw meat from barn and hunter hub which 2x time farther than food storage (root celler). “I get it this game is called Farthest Frontier” but come on.

indeed they the hardest worker in the game beside night collector, they rest very little. lololol XD

in some SS there some food piling up, I know I farm good for my villagers. 45k food per years, per year,16k raw meat, 6k cured meat, 12k-15k beans, 8k-11k greens, 3k-9k rooted veggie. most of the food are stored in Root Celler which are much closer. but why do grocers go after far distances barn and hunter hub for food? GREENs is the food hardly get deliver.

hardly see, 3 type of food in a house. 24 grocers divided 127 houses, equal to 5.3 houses. disappointing how 1 grocer can’t keep up with 5 to 6 houses per year.

I think grocers carrying capacity needs an increase and visit multiple houses at once. market storage increase will be nice as well.

You should untick raw meat from markets.

I did that few months ago I might try it again. I tried unmarking all food and some food at one point, the grocers walk to production site to pick up food.

I can only assume your food storage buildings aren’t set up well. You should have root cellars next to your food processing buildings with only the raw resources (ie, raw fish/raw meat/milk) ticked (and unticked everywhere else, be careful to check warehouses and the starting wagon), and then root cellars central to your markets with only processed food ticked (and unticked everywhere else except markets), and then markets with only processed food ticked.

That should create a good efficient flow where your markets workers can get what they need close at hand and so spend more time stocking homes. If you can catch a vid/screenshot of a market worker passing by a stocked root cellar and going further get the same resource direct from a producer then you should log that in the bug forum.

If I can add on to @MeowBeep’s excellent summary, the same principle applies to everything the Market needs to supply your residences.

Raw fish, meat, milk, fresh fruits should only be ticked at Root Cellars next to Smokers, Cheesemakers, and Orchards and never ticked for storage anywhere else. Root Cellars near the Markets should be ticked for all the ‘processed’ foods so it is easy for the grocers to access them, and them only.

Also near the Markets or central to the majority of them should be Storehouses/Warehouses ticked for only those goods and luxuries that the houses and population need: shoes, pottery, glassware, clothes, candles, furniture, etc - and never for raw materials or military goods that would be wasted on ‘regular’ citizens in their homes.

With some attention to detail, you can reduce the travel time required for your Grocers and citizens to supply your houses, which dramatically increases the efficiency of the Markets in general. I have regularly managed to keep 140 - 150 Manors supplies from 6 - 7 Market Squares by managing the travel times to storage areas and eliminating the storage of goods not required by the markets and their customers.

This, of course, was after I learned by producing a half-dozen towns that failed miserably to work well because I misplaced almost everything. Keep at it: like most games, we learn most things by Trial and Error (and Error, and Error, and Error . . .)

ofc I have learned those basic, I have 600+ hours in the game, but I could still use some tips and trick as always.

my root celler are close to 7 smoke house for better efficient. result of that, my smoke house burn 650 to close to 1k meat per year each smoke house. I made sure none other storage yard store food rather than root celler.

the only thing I haven’t experiment is, built root celler next to market. I’ll build new town and experiment that and will update to you guys.

question for you guys tho. will larger root celler, larger market storage space and grocer with extra carrying capacity will be good idea for a 1k or above population?

I’m guessing because I haven’t got the cpu to push much past 1k, but I don’t think that should be necessary if you have an efficient setup. The number of homes per market should stay the same, you’d just add more market/housing zones to push up the population. If you want twice as much root cellar space it is very easy to just build another one.

Possibly when they add tier 5 housing this might change because the population density around each market will increase, maybe?
